I grew up on Starblazers aka Battleship Yamoto

How exactly are foriegn films released in the US???

Does the Japanese studios need to negotiate with American Studios?

Or do they just go straight to the theaters and say, "Release this movie Bytch"

slap some subtitles on this and get it in the theaters!!!!

otherwise, i've got 5 months to learn Japanese.

Plenty of time

Yes.

It can get.... complicated.

If it's released here, it'll be subbed.

Hmm, never saw the original, but I don't tend to like the idea of making live-action versions of animes.

日本人は気が狂っています。

According to an online translation tool the above translates to

As for the Japanese the air has deviated

Which I sense might not be so accurate

hmmm.... tried another online translation program and got

Japanese people must be crazy

looks like translation software has a ways to go.

hmmm.... third time is the charm

The Japanese goes mad

okay, think that does it.

As i've long suspected, Shawkins is a crazy Japanese airbender spy with a horrid temper

So... I take it this isn't a WWII film about a Japanese battleship?

Well, yes and no. In the anime, the battleship is brought up out of the ocean and rebuilt as a space ship to battle the alien forces of the evil Desslok (who is awesome).

I've been waiting for this ever since the teaser trailer we got ages ago. (Which had arguably better music than this one, since it used orchestral versions of leitmotifs from the original series. Plus, it culminated in the oh-so-distinctive first measures of the Yamato theme.)

I'm sorry, Planetes spoiled me. If it has sound and bad physics, it makes my head hurt.

I applaud their banzai courage and their advanced space combat tactics! And also their hot lady fighter pilots, so sorry, forgive my chauvinist piggery.
