There are reports this evening that Dorchester has been un(dis?)invited from RWA National in Orlando later this month, for failure to meet contractural obligations to some of their authors. Apparently, some of the staffers received emails last night that all signings, spotlights, etc for Dorchester have been cancelled. (at Romance Divas and tweets from @Jane_l)
Hopefully, RWA will put a formal announcement out shortly to explain the details.
I feel terrible for the authors but am glad to know RWA is backing them.

There's been word circulating for a while that Dorchester's been having problems. They sold off titles to Avon in what, February?

I'm definitely waiting for updates. Dorchester owes me money that should've been paid in February. Before that, they often paid 3-4 months late for short stories, so it appears things have gotten worse. Kudos to RWA for looking out for authors.

Yet they are still open to subs. What's up with that?

They're not going out of business. Evidently just cash-strapped. The reason RWA's blocking them is because they can't catch up with all their financial obligation to authors before the conference.

I hope they do right by their authors soon. The trouble is at the top of the company, but it's the editors and authors that are feeling the burn right now.

That's really a shame. I hope things work out for them.
