Advice on ebook contract clause, please.

POD's seem to, at times, ride the line between Legit and Vanity publishing. I think in this instance the press has crossed the line. Fee's, any fee's at all, implies (IMO) a lack of commitment on the part of the publisher and should be a deal-breaker. POD or not, you want a publisher who has a vested interest in making your book a success. You want their money on the line so they push for sales and marketing.

I think there are some good POD's (or ebook/pod combos) out there, but none of the one's I'm thinking of charge any fee's at all.

Plus, 90.00 is nothing. That they would compromise how they look to the rest of the industry for such a small amount raises the hair on the back of my neck.

No it is not. And many epublishers that did this either closed, or stopped doing it due to bad press. I would appreciate it if you could PM me which publisher this is confidentially.

Not normal, although a lot of them are sliding in this direction. These kind of fees give POD a very bad name. No wonder it's losing respect, if it ever had any to begin with.

You can do better elsewhere when it comes to epubs. Stay away from the ones who charge any sort of set up fee.

Nah - no flush. I made the mistake of going with one (this was before I found AW and after I talked to other writers - published writers, mind you.) That's how I learned.
