A book based in high school and completely void of any typical cliques.

and interracial relationships.

and boy-centered literary.

and more homosexual relationships in books where the center plot or theme isn't about being homosexual.

Boy-centered literary.

Agreed. Do you know how hard it is for me to find books for my male patrons? Teen boys don't read a lot of fiction anyway. They tend to like nonfic. But anyway, there are so few male centered books. Thats why I think Paul Volponi and a few other male authors do so well. There is a huge need for it. You can't tell boys to read and hand them how to hook a hottie.

1. Diversity in every genre of YA.

2. LGBT characters living life la vida loca and having serious relationships.

3. Female MCs with sense and backbones.

4. Interracial relationships.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

Coming out stories are great and are valuable for LGBT and questioning teens, but where are the second wave stories? I can only think of a handful. I want more.

1. Lighthearted, whimsical fantasy.
2. I so agree with need for more boy-centered literary
3. And I also agree with the more diversity--especially MCs who are minorities, but the fact that they are a minority isn't the whole point of the book.
4. More realistic portrayals of high school (I'm really tired of the jock/cheerleader cliches).

Looking over the posts, we all seem to want more of the same things XD.

Unique settings and magic realism. Also YES! seconding/thirding/nthing boy-centered literary.

What I'm afraid about are books using minorities or homosexuality as gimmicks.

Can I just say that I am so happy to see my fellow writers down like this?

*wipes away tear*

Let's write the stuff we want to see and do our best to make it happen!

Books about boys, queer people, and racial minorities where the maleness/gayness/and minoriety is not the point.

Also, fantasy set in an imaginary world that isn't European!!! I read Tiger Moon, and afterwards, this was all I could think about!!!

More sci-fi.

More smart, badass heroines.

YA sci-fi and/or fantasy with multicultural MCs and LGBT MCs who kick butt. So basically, I guess diversity sums that up nicely?
Really, I also want characters who are different. Not another Mary Sue / Gary Stu / Bella / Edward / cliche person of any type.

Teenagers who are not acutely aware of cliques/social status and obsessing over it.

Homosexuality as not-an-issue.

Diversity as not-an-issue.

Boy-centered literary. Hell, yes a million times over to this one.

My writing! (Just kidding, but still...:p)

I second interracial relationships.

Paranormal with unusual creatures--less vamps, wolvies, fae, angels, zombies, etc. More banshees, selkies, nymphs and satyrs!

I also second more fantasy based on non-European cultures. There's a whole unexplored territory there with a whole lot of amazing ideas.

Geek chic.Along with this, less high school stereotypes--the dumb jock, popular cheerleader, nerds, etc.

And superheroes. Not that I'm biased on this one or anything. :D

agreed on the homosexual-non-issue/not-centered books.

Also, more male contemporary (since that's what I write!). Also, more mysteries, horror, thrillers and suspense that DON'T have a supernatural twist!

No, I haven't! Thank you!

Second! Usually, when I read those (or start to and don't buy them) the MC's just strike me as pathetic.

Also, maybe this is dumb of me, because I feel like I've seen them around, but haven't read many, but more stuff prominently involving the internet.
