Any suggestions on YA historical fiction

I'm looking to read some more YA historical fiction (I hope this is the right place to post this thread). I have read Carolyn Meyer (Beware Princess Elizabeth, Doome Queen Anne, Mary Bloody Mary) and some of Ann Rinaldi, and the Luxe series. Now I'm looking for something new. I also would perfer YA that is more adult...I know that might not make since because its in the YA, but it seems to me that there is like tween YA and teen YA ya know?

Anyways I'm looking for something good and has to deal ALOT with history

Well, I guess I'll plug my own novel.

The First Vial is set in the medieval period during the black plague and I'm told it reflects the period quite well. It is slotted as YA but seems to be a bit of a cross-over, judging by readership.

I'm another YA HF gal.

I hated the Luxe series, but then again my Victorian sensibilities were greatly offended by it. Historically accurate, it was not.

Try Karen Cushman, I believe her CATHERINE, CALLED BIRDY won several major prizes. Another book by her is THE MIDWIFE'S APPRENTICE. Very well written, funny in the right places, and historically very accurate IMO. I enjoyed both, as did my (then) preteen kids.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, and they're (obviously) very america centric, but I quite liked the original "Dear America" books when I was a teenager. They're very quick reads, and though I think they're considered "younger" YA, they tend to deal with heavier subjects, such as slavery, death, danger, exploration, etc.

I like history! And I love Carolyn Meyer!!! I have some books that may be good, but since i have read a lot, I would like to know what time period you are interested in...or else I would probably make too long a list!

Karen Cushman, 'CATHERINE, CALLED BIRDY' which was very good at creating a sense of place and time.

Catherine called Birdy is a great read, but its preteens and not YA. When I worked in an elementary library it was there.

As for time periods I am up for just about anything. The areas in history that I really like are colonial America (1607-1783) and the Tudors. However I would like to read more on other eras like Victorian, Midevial, since I don't know much about them

Celia Ree, Mary Hooper, Mary Hoffman, Katherine Langrish ( might be fantasy), Eleanor Updale, Paul Dowswell. I write historical fantasy set in Britain from first century to ninth.
