I cried when I heard the cast was limited to British actors (in my defense, I was 11 )

Star Wars

Seriously, I was so bummed when the Karate Kid 4 came out. The one with the girl. I was in my prime Karate days and I so could have played that part, acting and martial arts wise.

So, I figured I better limit my response to top three movies.

#1 Sin City.

This movie has the best hard boiled gumshoe type dialogue I have ever heard in a modern day film. All the scenes and characters are great, but if there is one who stands head and shoulders from the rest, it is the character of Marv.

" I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them, you don't feel bad"

"This is blood for blood and by the gallon. These are the old days, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days. They're back! There's no choice left. And I'm ready for war."

#2. Constantine.

I consider this movie pure genuis. Finally, a movie that doesn't dumb down for the lowest common denominator in the audience. This movie had a realism to it that is/was ahead of the typical fantasy fare.


and I saved the best for last...

#3 FIREFLY.

THough it's not a movie but a TV series. Quite simply, this was the best show (yes, show as in all categories) that television has ever produced.

In all the tens of thousands of hours of television i've watched, I have never fallen in love with a show and its characters as fast, hard, and deep as I have with that show. The writing was beyond brilliant. They acheived a harmony and chemistry that normally takes shows two or three seasons to achieve. ANd the plots and storylines were just superb.

About once a year, I have a Firefly marathon and blow through the season in one weekend.

Then afterwards, I plot a suicide run at Fox Network where I run amok with my semi-automatic rifles and pump round after round into all the execs responsible for canceling that show. Normally I come to my senses before I make it past county lines, but each year I get closer and closer to Fox Network so it is only a matter of time...

The Lord of The Rings, no question. I'd have been happy to be an extra. I'd have preferred hanging around on the Rivendell sets, but given how short I am, they'd have chucked me into The Shire.

Of course, I *really* dug (ha!) Bilbo's pad. Love the round door!

Those are, after all, the only movies I could think of that actually have ferrets in them.

When I was younger and watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture, I sometimes wished I was one of the guys in the turbolift behind Kirk, when he's confronting the Ilia Probe.

I don't get why everyone doesn't think this movie is just pure awesome .

THe plot is unique and the worldbuilding is superb. I love the fact that the writer/director just launches us right into the midst of the story. It feels like this story builds off of common contemporary fantasy/horror lore, but in a way that feels so organic...

And I love the acting and feel that Keanu is 100% perfect for the role.

I think this movie was ahead of its time. Sorta like how Kick Ass is a bit ahead of its time.

Anyways, you just have to watch it again. It will grow on you. Trust me.

Keep watching it until you think it is awesome

That girl?

You mean one of our few true actresses Hillary Swank?
(though one of her very first roles, I believe)

And she was HOT then!

The Matrix - Reloaded (or any of them)
Unloading on Neo with a sub-machine gun, and then
fighting him in the Foray with all the ancient weapons.

Aliens - One of the marines who get slaughter,
before "Marines . . . we are leaving!"

Wizard of Oz - One of the Witches (not so evil) soldiers.
Just marching to 'Oooo . . . Re . . . O" would have been cool.

Star Wars - Luke's friend that survives all three films.

Constantine - The Devil oozing into the scene barefooted.
(and yes, this is a cool movie, Tilda was awesome)

The original Karate Kid -- I'd love to play Mr. Miyagi (when I'm old, of course!)

Red Dawn - Who wouldn't want to save your country from the invading Russians with Patrick Swayze.

The Others - I know it's a bit of a surprise ending but I never get tired of it because I can imagine the movie from the other side. I like to think I would a character from a different time period coming to live with them.

The Postman - Okay I don't know how to ride a horse but I would totally be a mail carrier.

In real life I would probably be extra #183 if listed at all.

Star Wars. I want to the dude throwing cherry bombs at plastic models for the explosion effects. Or alternatively, the guy who had to melt down loads of model ships to make the Death Star's surface.

Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings

Rome (the HBO/BBC miniseries) because it was fantastic. Also, just about anything that contains a saucy scene between Robert Downey Jr and a female character.

I thought it was awesome. Really and truly. What I liked best about it was the casting. An American dark-haired John Constantine. The Universe had a bit of an aneurysm with that one, but I loved every minute of it.

Star Trek '09. I could be the girl equivalent of Wesley Crusher, but on the original Enterprise instead...going around and bugging everyone on the bridge and being a smarty pants.

And wearing really bad sweaters.

ETA: Oh, I'd love to replace Ginger playing opposite Fred in any of their films. He can dance me into his arms any day...
