The manuscript must have a sensuality tone that matches the Brava line.

Is there something specific to what their line is? I'd like to give it a go.

I'd been looking for specific guidelines, but so far not luck. The next step is going to my local public library and borrow the newest releases.

All I can tell you is that is erotic romance very explicit.

A search I did for what level Kensington's Brava line is brought this:

Extremely explicit sensuality - these books are often considered "romantica," a hybrid between erotica and romance.. Sexual feelings and desires are strongly focused on and some books in this category have sex as the primary focus. The details are thoroughly graphic, and may include what some readers might consider kinky.

So graphic sex and extreme sensuality. I'd have to spice my sex scenes up a little for this, but I'd be willing to do that....I'm happy to take them to any level ;)

LOL!!

Well, if it helps any...on the contest page it only says no "sweet" or "inspirational" romances...so I have a feeling they're pretty flexible on the heat level as long as you have a fair amount...or more ;) :D

I'm calling this a dark romance. It'd take me an hour to explain...

If I have time when edits are done I'm gonna try this

Just by saying this I got quite an idea. Sounds intriguing...

******

I think I'm going to try it. I've done a good solid round of editing and have the first 10 chapters completed after a good Beta reading (the rest is still waiting on my beta reader...she had her son's wedding to handle). If nothing else, submitting it to this contest will force me not to over-rush my querying, which I tend to do. And I'll hold off on that sub to Sourcebooks until I'm sure the novel is the best it can be so I'm not breaking contest rules.

Am rambling now. Tend to do that pre-caffeine. Off to find some nectar of the Gods...

That looks . . . interesting, worth a shot. They didn't mention an entry fee, so should I assume it's free to enter?

Oh, and my only completed manuscript is the one that I just subbed to the Heart of the Rockies contest . . . do you guys think it'd be all right if I submitted it to this one, if I mentioned it in the cover letter, but clearly stated that I had not yet queried any agents or publishing houses?

Yep, it's free; always has been.

I don't think you need to mention anything. As long as your book isn't presently contracted by an agent or editor--and they said to tell your (prospective) agent not to submit the manuscript until the end of the contest--there's nothing hindering your book from being eligible for entering the contest.

Thank you, Evangeline! That was very helpful.

Here's to something that doesn't cost anything! Yay. :)
