HP G60t Notebook Series

If I remember right, HP is having lots of trouble with notebook batteries causing fires...

I can't find the news report, but I think this is a new round of recalls issued just this week. Like half a million or something like that. They suggest removing the batter and just using the plug in adapter. I think I read it on Switched. I will look around and see if I can find it...

If you want durability, Toshiba makes a good one, lots of reporters going to Iraq or Afghanistan have raved about how durable they are.

No matter which one you get though, make sure you try them out because the keyboards are smaller and it takes a while to get used to them. Also, it depends on what you want to do with a notebook. Just use it for writing, or to surf the net as well and watch video's or play games.

Right now, with the ipad and other similar devices, I am not sure how much longer notebooks are going to be around.

Don't know that you can count them out yet.

The Toshiba netbooks are very durable....three gals in my critique group have them. Asus have really gone down hill. The outer design is better but they seem to die easily. I have an hp currently...and it's nice and durable. I also have a Dell, not sure I'd recommend their netbooks...they don't seem to work so well.

As for HP laptops...I love my new one..and if you haven't used windows 7 yet, it's nice. This is a full sized laptop rather than a netbook..but the price is about the same. As thothguard51 said, if you are thinking netbook instead then go to a store and try typing on them...you need small hands.

As for battery recalls...every company has had them at some time or another. The fact their recalling them is a good thing, imho.

I use a HP Pavilion dv6 and love it. It's the first notebook I've ever used, and no complaints so far. Windows 7 Home is terrific. Before that I used XP, never tried Vista.

I am on my second Dell laptop in fifteen years. The only reason I got the second one is because I finally needed more power and hard drive space.

My current Dell Inspiron is a year old this month and I have had no troubles. I run Vista and use MS Office Pro 2007. Speed does not seem to be a problem, nor has it overheated any. Plays movies as good as my Blue Ray player.

I might be the exception with Dell but I am happy with them. My daughter likes her Toshiba and my son loves his HP. We are a equal opportunity family...

I adore my Toshiba.

I really love Dell, my graphics and game computer is a Dell XPS laptop. It's a beast but works really well.

Toshiba, Dell and HP all make great products in my opinion....Toshiba is usually a little more pricey.
