Mostly for those who write mysteries, but it applies to all novelists -- did you know Amazon shows the last chapters of your novels in many instances?

According to Amazon, the blame is on their Search Inside staff and they are looking into it.

I urge you to check out your Amazon listing(s) and see what exactly is being revealed to potential readers. If a reader knows the ending, how eager will he or she be to buy your novel?

This is a BIG issue and we need to make our voices heard.

There's not really any way to 'check' this, since the Look Inside feature simply randomly displays pages. I agree that, if possible, Amazon ought to exclude the last few chapters of all books from being displayed. But, as I said, there's no way for an Amazon user to check what gets displayed; it's random, and will also only display a certain number of pages (I think it was 8 last time I messed about with it) per session.

It might be a good idea to move this to the Novels forum, since it's about novels, not business and tech writing. Mods?

Good idea, Terie. I'll post it there as well.

The Look Inside feature for my book is fine, but I have two mysteries about to be listed on Amazon. If they show the last chapter of either, there wouldn't be much point in anyone buying the books.

A friend of mine has a mystery listed on Amazon and they offer the Epilogue as a Look Inside. She's fighting it and I'll come back on the Novel thread to let everyone know what Amazon does to put this right.
