I am curious on what everyone thinks these days on the possibility of a novel for the computer genre.

Looking around; I have noticed that more and more people are using the terms. "LOL (laugh out loud) Lmao (laughing my ass off) pwned, noob, ftw (for the win) etc etc. Now that more and more people are exposed to computers; most likely they are getting exposed to those terms and get used to them.

Do you think that the traditional way of writing is somewhat in danger of being extinct; now that these terms are becoming more and more common?

While those terms are used more by young adults our kids playing video games, i have noticed adults (age of 40+) have started to use them as well. So this thought came to me, perhaps one day books will start using those terms once it becomes a normal thing for everyone in the world.

I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

Edit: If someone can correct my grammar mistakes It would be very much appreciated. (still learning the proper way to write)

Cheering you all on!
There are a few books that use them throughout (TTYL, for an example), but the whole point is that the books are in a social media form.

Other books use social media within them while characters talk to each other over distances (Will Grayson, Will Grayson, for example)

However, I doubt that that textspeak will become a common thing for novels. The reason those bits of shorthand has come about is to type more quickly while texting, IMing, tweeting. They're still harder to read and process than normal words. I could think of instances where a specific type of character might think "pwned" or "noob," but for the most part, narrative is likely going to be free of these terms.
