Connecting a laptop to a tv

You need the proper cord. I'm not sure if it's a standard USB cord or not, but my daughter just pulled a cord out from her room and hooked up her computer to the LCD so we could all watch YouTubes.

The easiest and probably most compatible way is via VGA. You should have a VGA port on your laptop, but not all TVs have a VGA-input. They're not rare but it's not a guarantee. VGA looks like this:

As far as the Windows 7 wireless feature, I don't know about it specifically but I'm sure it requires either a very modern TV or an additional piece of hardware.

I don't know about wireless, but my daughter used a USB cable. Our LCD has a port for USB, not for VGA. *shrug*

OP, have you checked the user's manual for your set? You should be able to find it online, if you don't have the paper copy anymore.

You have several choices depending on your laptop and TV inputs.

One of the most common ways to do this is the one mentioned (VGA) but I thought I would elaborate in case that doesn't work for you.
There are also HDMI outputs on many newer laptops as well.

In either case you usually have to go into display properties and switch that output to ON. There are a lot of variables here and many laptops give you the choice of both laptop and TV on together or just one or the other. Most have Function keys that look like a screen with an arrow to switch back and forth from the keyboard. be aware that sometimes videos will only run on one of the two screens on certain laptops.

In addition to VGA and HDMI there are also some computer laptops with a composite TV output. In USA this is NTSC composite video and could be a RCA style lack or a phone plug style.

Worst case, if you have really old TV and it has no inputs other than RF you have to use a modulator.
