Hey AWers,
I'm looking for a reader to give general feedback, chapter by chapter, on my WIP:
It:
Genre: historical (19th century American) quirky "foodie" fiction, a new (or non-, depending on how you look at it) genre with a bit of romance/sex, a little mystery, and smidgeon of suspense.
MC: female
Plot-in-a-long-sentence: Twin sisters, forced into undesirable marriages due to a family tradition, secretly switch lives: one moves back to Boston to live a privileged life with an aging fool while the other lands the man of her dreams as a Kansas farmer's wife--only to discover that he is increasingly unstable.
Me: I have been in writers' groups before, but geography is preventing it at the moment. I was agented once (with PMA) about five years ago, and *almost* got a publishing contract (long story). This is my third work. I'm waiting to hear back on a revise and resub on my first novel--same non-genre--from an agent at Folio. She has issues with rough places in the plot, which seems to be one of my biggest challenges and one of the main reasons I am seeking a reader right out of the gate for this one.
You: I'm looking for an experienced reader (duh) willing to give feedback chapter by chapter as I write. And yes, the deadline thing built into this kind of exchange system is very appealing to me. : ) It would be great if you are also looking for chapter-by-chapter feedback for a WIP. However, I know nothing about MG, YA, fantasy, sci-fi, or paranormal.
Thanks. : )
