Apparently still developing...might be picked up for a short 21st season.

Here's something that is very telling about the nature of regurgitated network TV:

NBC apparently opted not to keep the aging series, which spawned several successful spinoffs. The latest, Law & Order: Los Angeles, will launch next season.

Remember the new Coke/Classic Coke debacle?
Heh. Except in this case, they won't revert to Old Coke, but let New Coke linger on for a couple of years. They definitely won't bother to see if people would rather have Jolt.

Makes me wonder what formula the L&O:LA will follow? Who will be the crossover characters? Will they bring in Dr Dre or Ice Cube to play the street-smart cop role?

Can't say I'm surprised. Used to love the show, now w/o Lenny, it's gone downhill. I don't think I'll be watching the new one. I've moved on and don't watch any anymore.

Ah, Lenny Briscoe. We still miss you, buddy.

Fans need to see this. I own it, nah-nah!

Amazing. A long-running show like L&O and many of us identify the show with Lenny. Me too. I enjoyed L&O for the first several years, but lost interest. After Lenny, his police lieutenant was my fave. L&O SVU was the only other one, but I haven't seen it for several years.

Renewing a show fading in the ratings simply so it can have a 21st season and beat Gunsmoke's record is a piss-poor reason for it go on.

Law and Order went on for 20 years and probably hung on a good five years past its expiration date. At a certain point it told every story it could tell. After that it was just recycling old riffs and tropes.

Put it to bed. L&O lost so much of it's charm when Lenny "The Cool" Briscoe died. You can't replace a Jerry Orbach and trying to was a waste of time.
