So, I stumbled onto a hilarious Youtube series developed by "ItsJustSomeRandomGuy" and i've spent the last hour just laughing my ass off.

http://www.youtube.com/user/itsjustsomerandomguy?blend=1&ob=4#p/u/31/RMhn10cG_BU

The videos are really really entertaining and this got me to thinking.

What other gems are out there that I don't know about???

Another one I stumbled across was RedLetterMedia.com and he basically shreds bad sci-fi movies like The Phantom Menace in his 'reviews' section.

So, what are some of your favorite viral vids and youtube like videos?

What can these vids teach us?

What are the ramifications and potential impact to traditional writers and production houses?

Lastly, links would be great :)

"I think I hear my girlfriend dying." :D

Surfing YouTube can net some gems. I found some vids by this guy a few years ago and I'm hooked. Meet Dan and Dan.

And of course, all things John Stewart make me happy.

I don't get to watch tv much but YouTube is great for playing catch up.

You may be interested in this story I heard the other day on the NPR radio show "On The Media:"

ROFLCon II: What Makes an Internet Meme Go Viral?
http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2010/05/07/05
They talk about the story of the doped-up kid - the father noticed how strange/funny the kid was acting while driving back from the dentist, and took the opportunity to pull over to the side of the road and video the moment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txqiwrbYGrs (58,900,000 views)
and they mention how the father made more such videos, but none of them are anywhere near as popular as the original.

The story's mention if the Three Wolf Moon t-shirt (something I haven't heard of) reminds me that it's not just videos going viral.

Here's an "intentional" thing done by a Japanese firm. Denon has been known for decades as a maker of high quality audio products, but they outdid themselves with their "AK-DL1: Ultra Premium Denon Link Cable" - a five-foot Ethernet cable sold for interconnecting modern digital audio equipment. Notice the price tag:
http://www.usa.denon.com/productdetails/3429.asp
This was all over the audio-related forums and newsgroups a few years ago. Actually, it was the link to the Amazon page where it was sold that got passed aroundAmazon had it at list price, but it looks like Amazon no longer sells it new, fortunately the page is still there and previously-owned ones are available at hefty in-demand prices, but of course the REAL entertainment is in the reviews:

There's also these reviews, discussed years ago on AW, of a BIC ball-point pen:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IE6X/?tag=absolutewritedm-20

Now that I look, the "On The Media" show has an article on the "Hitler Meme," taking a protrayal of Hitler from an old movie and putting new subtitles on it:
http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/downfall-hitler-meme
It's not shown there, but ISTR someone on AW posted one with, was it Star Wars subtitles?

I know of a few political ones, though they are probably better posted in PC&E.

Hehe, those Marvel/DC videos are classic. The music in the background gets me every time.

I've got some uber-geeky videos out there that I love. A few to share:

AMAZING Super Mario World sound synced with Queen's Don't Stop Me Now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTo-wFfIXKo

Mario: Game Over parody video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpBGRA6HHtY

The Pi Song by Hard and Phirm (featuring robots and wizards!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDu351QNoZE

That's all I can think of now, but I'm sure I'll have some more to add later.
