Hello folks,
I've been browsing and casually participating here for over a month and hoping I have paid some dues and earned the right to ask for a little help.

I'm working with an editor on my book and learning some important tools but one issue that I am very interested in working on is to make my non-fiction story smooth and understandable to people who have little to no experience with religious or cult practices. I want to see if what I've written is thourogh and informative enough to give the non-religious or non Mormon reader enough information to understand the culture and experience.

I have about four chapters that deal with my perception of early church history and culture and then blends into my own life and experiences in relation to the LDS church.

If the initial history is confusing or incomplete then I'd like to know from a novice perspective what areas create the confusion or need clarification.

Much of the information is so familiar to me that I tend to assume it's common knowledge. I expect that at some point this book will make it's way into mainstream media and would like to cater the detail to a broader audience.

If you are interested and can spare the time for about three or four chapters, it would help me a lot to get your perceptions. I'm tough and thick skinned so can take some direct critiques and prefer blunt honesty to sugary sweetness. I get all the sugar from my sweet husband and that's good enough. I need somethin straight up.

Hello Insana D. I'm about as non-religious as they come, so if you'd like me to read a few chapters for clarity I might be able to help. I can tell you what makes sense to me and where I get lost, although I might not represent the majority of your readers, who would have an interest in religious non-fiction. Full disclosure - I have no interest in reading religious material. I do have a healthy respect for other viewpoints but I'm solidly atheist. I do like to help people, though, and if my total cluelessness about the Mormon religion could come in handy, then I'd be happy to give it a go. I'm not published and I might not have any idea what I'm talking about. I have a master's degree in social work. If you think I might be useful, please send me a PM.
