I'm trying to find a couple of numbers. Specifically, the number of pizza delivery drivers in the US and the average premium rate for commercial auto insurance.

Google is giving me too much info, even with liberal use of quotes.

Here's a good link for you to try, Lloyd.

http://www.fedstats.gov/

These are statistics and census information from a variety of sources. When you click the link, look in the left column for "Search across agency websites". When I entered "average auto insurance rates," I got a long list of documents to review. You might even find your pizza carrier info here. I presume that SOMEONE must track that (at least as far as insurance goes).

Good luck!

Yeah, I'm familiar with the DoL and Bizstats.org. The problem with them is the same: information overload and poor search utilities.

I can hand-calculate out the big companies based on what I know of them and their operations. It's the mom & pops and the accumulation of smaller chains that throw my numbers off.

For insurance rate quotes, you might try www.progressive.com. Progressive auto insurance touts in their commercials that they'll give you their own rate quote and that of several competitors.
