Bad news, the first one won't come out until 2012 (apparently Godzilla will be the one to destroy the world :p), and the next one is slated for around 2014 (60th anniversary)

The 2012 one is being produced by Legendary Pictures. In addition to Legendary, producers on the new film will be Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers. Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira and Doug Davison will be the executive producers.

The 2014 is some form of 3-D Imax production, involves some new villain monster called Deathla. It's being made by the director for Godzilla vs. Hedorah, Yohimitsu Banno.

There's a rumor that they may be the same movie, but I think it unlikely.

I would give 2:3 odds that this movie loses money.

The 1998 Godzilla barely broke even.

$130M to make
$136M in box office revenues

and that movie sucked something fierce.

I just can't see the next one making money.

Looks like another Land of the Lost disaster.

Yeah, but 1998 did so many things wrong, most of all using some weird GINO Zilla, and then killing it... Godzilla never dies.
These ones are going to use a Godzilla much truer to the original, and since they have several people overseeing this that actually have made Godzilla movies before, I'm hopeful.

I'm willing to give any Godzilla movie a chance.

Great video.

I'm trying to remember a Godzilla off-shoot film. In it, a kid was like, dreaming/imagining of Monster Island and he was involved in a robbery, it's been a long time. It remember watching it alongside the original Gojira back when I was younger. It was in color, although not very good.

I'm waiting and hoping to see when they'll finish releasing all 29 original movies on DvD, then I'm going to see if they bundle it, if not, there's always eBay/Amazon.

Godzilla's Revenge was the movie, I believe.

...he never went away. All 28 Godzilla movies that were actually made in Japan have a guy in a suit (or a puppet on strings).

But they changed the suit. I like that suit the best. :D

How would we ever tell the three Godzillas apart then?

Well, the other f/x's, of course! Instead of cheap flimsy 5 foot sets, 8 foot sets! :D

Pfffft, lol.

I am currently listening to the Best of Godzilla, 1984-1995.
So. Much. Brass.

:)

That means I :Hug2: you, too. We both like that little Japanese actor.
