Hi Everyone,

My name is Anh, a 18 year old Asian male from Worcester, MA. I am gay, though I am closeted. Only a select few know, including my parents. My dreams of becoming a screenwriter occurred in the summer of 05 and I have been inspired to write. I love thinking of creative ideas and having it played out on the big screen.

As you can tell, my favorite animal is the donkey. Don't ask me why but I just find something about so fascinating lol.

I hope to meet everyone and enjoy the company of brilliant minds.

I have one question pertaining to screenwriting which I need help on.

QUESTION:

There is a scene with a photo in the background. What is the transition that transforms the current scene to the exact scene in the photo?

Thanks !

~Anh

Hi Anh, and welcome to the Cooler. I haven't the faintest idea about the answer to your question, but I bet someone in screenwriting can help you with that. :)

Take some time to make some friends and get to know your way around, we're glad you're here.

Hi Anh,

Definately pop over to the screenwriting section and ask the question there. It will probably be missed over here.

For what it's worth, I'd probably simply describe what happens.

For example:
TOM picks up the family photo and examines it. It shows a happy couple in a park smiling for the camera.

We hear sounds of children laughing as ..

EXT. PARK - DAY. (MATCHING SHOT)
A flashbulb FLASHES as the photographer snaps the photo. Laughing children run past. The happy couple smile and ...
Mind you, I'm not entirely happy with that either, but it would do until I popped over to the screenwriting section and asked Joe myself...

Welcome, Anh!

I think the transition you refer to is: DISSOLVE TO

But come to the screenwriting forum and ask again there, as the others said.

I'm more of a moo cow fan myself, and I know exactly why. City Slickers. Norman. He stole my heart.

Nonetheless, :welcome: , and I hope you enjoy AW as much as I have!

Hi Anh! Glad you're to join us. Welcome to AW. I don't know about screenwriting, I mostly write poetry but I'm sure some one knows. Just wanted to welcome you to the forum.
