Turning your book into Kindle books

I know that Kindle is the new big thing right now and I have found out how to turn my novel into Kindle...free (of course) I wanted to shared this with everyone that way many authors books are available for Kindle. It's very easy but takes Amazon a few days to make the product available. Here is the link to tell you how to do it.

I'm going through the process of doing this myself now (the publisher released Kindle rights, so I'm converting PDF to Word, and have tons of questions).

PDF files do not convert well. If anybody wants to convert their book to kindle, the best format for conversion is HTML, which you can do via MS Word. Just save it as a single page web file and it should convert no problem.

Why not just cheat? After all, isn't MS Word (or some variant, such as Open Office) the home environment for most of the books originally? If so, why not just offer that version with some formatting up and save time....?
