Hey!

I have not been to AW in a while. Its nice to be back...

For you guys who have had your work go to Pubs, how long was the wait? It's been almost three months. I just wondered. Let me know what your time frame was. Thanks guys: )

submitted by an agent, I assume?

BREAK sold in 3 months, INVINCIBLE SUMMER in 1. But the first rejections came back after a few days, tops.

A month for me, but it varies a lot. I have friends who were/are on sub a lot longer. You can always ask your agent if you're worried about it. They should be able to give you more information.

Shady,
Yes, it was on sub by an agent

Danthia,
I asked my agent and he says it at the top of the pubs pile...
Guess I'm just nervous. Actually, Im dying to go on to book 3 which would be unwise as I have no idea what will happen with book one.

Is there a gen rule on this stuff like a month to four months or is it completely random?

And my agent has it out to 4 pubs? Should it be more? Or should we wait until the first round gets a response?

Thanks guys

It varies. I had some pubs get back to us in a weekend, & my auction was two weeks after submission. Some books sell via pre-empt almost immediately. Some take months and months. And some books, even good books unfortunately, never sell.

Why don't you work on another book outside this trilogy? That's probably the best way to spend your wait.

Thx for the info.

I would work on something else but nothing has inspired me to be totally honest. No passion for any one story right now.

It may sound strange but I've written two books so far and I still don't know "How to write a book".

What I mean is I mostly just listen to the characters as they told me their story. But to start another story without "hearing" it being told to me is...forced and uninspired.

Tengraceapples....good luck with submissions! I've been on submission for five weeks now and the wait is killing me! My agent has submitted to ten published, all requested fulls and I've heard back from two (with different opinions for why they passed, which is good because that means at this point they didn't find a major issue that caused them both to want to pass).

I know how rough it can be! :)

It can take a few minutes or it can take 10 months or more.
