How many people in this forum are writing women's fiction rather than romance?

No disrespect meant to romance writers, I like romance, and much of the advice and threads on here are relevant. But there doesn't seem to be much available that is specifically geared towards the non HEA'ers.

Or am I mistaken?

Is there anything different you guys think we could be doing for you in this forum? Please let me know, okay? You can post here or PM or email me if you prefer. :)

I know we do tend to have a Romance focus here, and the majority of posters write romance, but I wouldn't want you to feel left out.

I write both, but I prefer women's fiction because I have a tough time writing traditional HEA endings. Bittersweet endings are more my speed.

I write both. My women's fiction tends to be a WF/Romance hybrid more often than not though.

Thank you :D.

There isn't anywhere on AW that I feel unwelcome. Many topics discussed in Romance (and elsewhere) are interesting, useful and relevant to me.

I wanted to say Hi and invite women's fic' writers to say Hi back; get a feel for the population so to speak. The romance genre is so established, and well thought out, and women's fic less so. I've been hesitant to post but I'm over that.

Of course, it's up to me to make my questions engaging and clear in the first place!

Thanks, Rose. I'm glad you don't feel unwelcome. :)

I just do want to make sure that everyone feels they're being served (ahem) in this room, so just know the offer is there, okay?

Leaving you to yourselves now, lol, no more hijack.

Yes, much as I like the HEA, reading it all the time feels unsatisfying to me.

I prefer reading about the psychology and development of characters more than 'allowed' in romance novels, it seems. Though the inclusion of a strong romantic element is vital.

Hey Stacia, I have a question. I've been reading through old threads in this forum, seeking answers to questions I have.

Do I start a new thread if I want to 'refresh' the discussion or do I revive the old one? I thought other 'newer' members might be interested in the answer, so I'm posting rather than PM'ing. Thanks!

I write women's fiction. I usually mean for it to be a Romance when I start out but it never ends up that way. Some endings that I think are happy others disagree.

You can do either one, Rose. I don't have any problem with resurrecting old threads, so long as the new posts are on target. But if what you want to say only "kind of" applies, you might start a new thread and just reference the old thread with a link in the first post. :)

And, as my co-mod Stacia says, whatever we can do to help WF writers, we're happy to do! :Hug2:

Women's fiction. My endings are not always considered happy ones, although sometimes they are...

Can someone take pity on me and define the two genres? I'm not quite sure where the differences lie. (Probably not a problem since I don't write either of them...)
