Am I the only suspense writer?

Really? Honest question here. I mean, it seems like most of the people here are writing mysteries or thrillers or detective stories. Am I the only one floating around who does just plain old suspense?

My first novel is out on agented submission to editors right now, so I've gotten at least that far! Ask me how that's doing for my nerves.

In my humble opinion, thriller, crime drama, mystery, suspense, detective stories, do intertwine…. and then some; you place any of those fifty years ago and voila, you’ve got historical added. Many agents insist on cross genre, it broadens the market. I had one agent suggest I change one of my two male protagonists into a female, for a little romance—won’t hurt he said.

I call my most recently finished work a thriller because no zombies showed up. Darn thing was supposed to be UF.

Oh yeah. Totally. She's like...super scary. Sure she puts on this nice little facade of being super sweet and kind and encouraging, but that's just to get you where she wants you...

Okay, I hate to be serious, or to give away any of my secrets, but here goes: I'm a suspense writer too, at least by any real definition of the word. My agent scratched his head over it, too, until an editor enthusiastically said "It's a thriller! Look how much action!" So now we say "thriller" cause it makes the editors happy... but if you've seen my little blurb (have you seen my little blurb?) you can see that nothing more than a few lives ride on the outcome.

There are ninja-like moves, but no actual ninjas. I'm saving them for the sequel.

I'd say I write suspense/ thriller/ horror/ whatever the hell it ends up being.

I note-carded the novel I'm working on (or rather, the two novels I am mashing into one) and there is 61 important plot points. That's a whole lot of plot. Some of those are suspensey* bits and some of them are horrory* bits and some are actiony* bits. One of them is even a sex-scene, but only one (and not totally sexy either, he asks her if the marks on her belly are stretch-marks!)

* These are technical terms btw

LOL! Okay, I'm pretty sure being asked if the marks were stretch marks would ruin the mood for me.

Mine are usually mostly suspensey with sometimes a few action bits and some horrory bits on occasion. My current one is mostly uh...good lord. I still have no idea what to call it. It's not suspenseful enough to really be suspense...
