Anyone know anything about the Penn Writers conference? I have a choice to go to the Penn Conference, IWWG NY con, or Baltimore Writers con and don't know which is best. If anyone has been to one or all or heard any scoop on them, please fill me in! I could probably fit two in, but it would have to be worth it. Are they all a waste of time? (and money)

Thanks AW

Baltimore Writers Conference

Hi I attended the Baltimore Conference last year. As I recall, the price was right and I attended some good workshops. Stephen Hunter was the featured speaker and he was very good. I can't speak for the Penn conference. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I think the best part is just getting out, rubbing elbows with other struggling writers, seeing that agents are actually humans, that persistence really does pay off and that the old tried and true advice of self discipline and write, rewrite, rewrite is true.

If you get the chance, go to a conference! Good luck!

I went to the IWWG conference in Saratoga Springs in the early 80's and LOVED it! There were 305 women writers for all over the world. I now live in San Diego and no longer belong to the organization, but know some folks who do. The atmosphere was wonderful, but I'd check to see who's leading the workshops this year - especially what their qualifications are. I am aware of at least on woman who teaches novel writing at the conference every year - who has never written one, let alone published it.
