"A World Beyond Narnia" on UK radio tonight (21 March)

This programme is on BBC Radio 3 tonight at 10pm, presented by novelist Louise Doughty. Interviewees include Patrick Ness and Meg Rosoff. Details here. The programme will presumably be available afterwards on the BBC's Iplayer service for the usual seven days - though unfortunately you will have to be in the UK to access it.

Despite the title, there's some discussion of contemporary/realist YA as well as the fantasy variety.

It was quite interesting, though I take issue with the comment that before there was YA boys went from children's books to SF and fantasy (while girls went to romance). Plenty of girls read SF and fantasy as well.

Also good to hear a programme that went beyond Harry Potter and Twilight and didn't get too preoccupied with "OMG they're reading about sex".
