Unspecified Submission Requirements

All the British ones i've looked at have wanted the first three chapters aswell.

Where there are no guidelines I'm making the assumption they only want a query. I could be wrong though, since I've never done this before

Honestly, when I don't find submissions requirements I think the best thing to do is just send a query. If they want to see more, they can. But I don't think its a bad thing that you sent a synopsis. Just sit back and wait, it's all you can go now.

I would just send a query.

When I came up against this issue, if I was submitting via email, I'd include the first ten pages pasted after the query. If I were submitting a hard copy, I'd mail in the first five pages. For a few agents with no guidelines, I received requests based on the material I sent; they actually said they liked the writing sample and wanted to see more.

If you took this approach and severely offended an agent with the few extra pages or some text below your query, would you want to work with them anyway? I honestly think it's in your best interest to submit a short sample, unless, of course, they ask for strictly a query and nothing else. Good luck!

I second (or third, or fourth or whatever) just sending a query. When I was querying - and I only queried I think nine agents - but of those nine only one wanted anything more than a query. So when in doubt I go for an awesome one page query.

I would send a query letter, synopsis and the first five pages/first chapter.
