I just had this sudden moment of pure inspiration. It's been such a long time since something struck me so fully, and with such force, that I want to stop everything and just WRITE. I'm incredibly excited.
Do you ever have those moments? They are far too rare for me, though when I get them, I generally can't stop and follow through with them since I'm usually in class. It's weird, but some of my best work comes from stuff I thought up in a class - especially the large, 700-person lecture hall classes that litter campus.
History classes are where I get most of my inspiration, as well as film classes. The funny thing is, the thought that is generated by the lectures is almost NEVER related to what I was learning. For instance, I have a film class on 1930s films. We were watching King Kong, and I had this sudden idea to continue my book in a new direction, involving the MCs little sister getting pregnant and falling for an ancient vampire that's really creeped out by her. Awesome.
