Timeline for a couture wedding dress

I'm writing a series of mystery novels - the MC gets engaged at the end of the second one and married at the end of the fifth.

(Except for the progression of his relationship, the stories themselves are free-standing. So whichever one gets published first, so be it.)

His fiancee is a high-ranking editor at a major fashion magazine. Through her connections, she's going to get an important designer to create a wedding dress for her. Two, actually - one with a train for the formal ceremony, and a lighter, more practical one for the reception.

The wedding is in late May, and she gets engaged in mid-September. When would she begin discussing the design of the dresses, and when would she have fittings?

She's very well connected. The proposal is at the end of New York Fashion Week, so I'm going to have her make phone calls the next day, arrange for an initial consultation as soon as the European Fashion Weeks are over, and then start fittings right after the new year.
