My computer has recently started doing a random thing--sometimes when I'm typing while online, it decides that what I wanted instead of an apostrophe (which I use quite a lot!), was something called a "quick link." It opens a little bar at the bottom or side of the page for me trying to link me up with...

What?

I thought it was just on hotmail that it happened, until I tried to reply to a post a few minutes ago, and the same thing happened.

Then I fiddled around (not sure exactly what I did) and it went away.

Is this a feature of the new Firefox upgrade? If so, how do I disable it? If not, where the heck did it come from, and how can I make it go away?

Thanks in advance...

Thanks, Matera. I tried clearing my cache, and that worked. For a while. So I've tried the second thing on the list.

I hope they fix the bug, though. It's a pita to have that stupid window open up for a keystroke as common as an apostrophe, cause usually I'm not looking for something on the page, I just want the damned apostrophe... :tongue

Don't tell anybody else, but I made big juju to get that bug in there. It's my revenge on the apostrophlea proliferators. I'm sacrificing ten goats tonight to see if I can get something like it working in at least one alternative word processor.

I hate you. :tongue

Seriously, I tried doing what they suggested in the link, and that did not work either. I am very tempted to go back to Explorer, and that's saying something...

(Now why did the apostrophe in "that's" work, but I had to type out "did not" and "I am"?)

Frustrating...

I don't like firefox. You can try other browsers for free ,Google chrome or Opera both work fine. You can keep a number of browsers on your machine and switch between them.Personally, I don't understand the the problem some people have with I E .It has its weakness, like all of them, but browsers are just tools, use the sharpest one you can find.

oh, sorry, well down on your taskbar, you right click on a blank area, go to toolbars and click on 'language'

a lil keyboard will appear by your time and see what and whenyou click on that it will open a lil windows near it that tells you yours choices.

click US

or canadian English i'm unsure in which country that tree you're up in, is :(

or right in this box, right click an choose language and then 'US' or whatever. the task bar way, just gives you that icon always there. but just to see and fix you can do it from inside this box

good luck. hope this is the solution or if not, scratches off one that doesn't work.
