Smallville!!!! .... w/ possibility of spoilers

Is there really no thread in here for Smallville? Maybe I'm just not finding it or something, but after 9 years you'd think there would be something.

I'm starting this thread because I love the show. I've just finished watching the newest episode (gotta love the DVR) and I just have to say something.

HO-LY SHITE!

Ok, so maybe it's not *that* big of a deal. But to fans like me, who have been watching the show since the day it aired, this week's episode is really something. Particularly the last shot, which Smallville is famous for. Their final shots always make me go, "Dammit! Is it next Friday yet?"

Now, I've been a loyal fan for years, stuck through the whole Lana/Clark back and forth, back and forth thing for years before she finally went buh-bye. Enter the beginning of the Lois/Clark relationship. Friends they have been since she came onto the show, but now the makers of the show are actually getting them together. So geeked! They're not dragging it out for ages like they did with Clark and Lana, thank goodness for that. And you know what? They're actually doing a good job about it too.

I can't post this without mentioning the fact that over the years the writers have introduced members of the Justice League to the show. Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) has been a regular on the show for 3 seasons now if I'm not mistaken. But they've also had Aquaman, Cyborg, Martian Man, Black Canary, Flash (Bart is one of my favs), Brainiac (also one of my favs), and other famous Superman characters like Perry White. They way they've been written into the show has been done well. The writers have found a way to bend the Superman story, but not break it. In some areas it stays true to the original idea/concept, but they have taken their liberties over the years. But, as I said, they've done it well.

I have to say, the only thing I don't like about the recent seasons is no more Lex Luthor. They made it look like Queen killed him, but we all know he didn't. I mean, it's Lex Luthor, so we know he's not really dead. The person who played him, Michael Rosenbaum, was freakin' awesome at it IMHO. I don't think they could have picked a better person to play Lex. He did that part so well, especially when he started getting all...well, Lex Luthor like and doin' crazy shite nobody else would even consider, and I certainly miss seeing him on the show.

It is rumored that this is the last season of Smallville. I sure hope not, but there's not a whole lot I can do about it if it is. I'm just hoping that I don't watch the series finale and go WTF?!?! because they did a bad job of ending it. Mind you, I don't think that will happen, but it could. And let's face it, the show can't go on forever. Poor Tom Welling is going to have mucho consequences for being Clark Kent methinks. Yes, he's done movies and other shows, but he's mainly known for his portrayal of Clark. That could cause some issues in his acting career down the road..... then again, it could give him a leg up too. People may want him in their show/movie just because he was CK. Who knows?

So, tell me what you think. Do you not approve of Smallville? Are you obsessed with it like me? Do you think it's a dishonor to the whole Superman story? I want to know. Tell me what you love/hate about it. Tell me what you expect or want to happen in the show.

I did hear something along those lines as well.

I know quite a few people who don't like the earlier seasons of the show, or didn't start watching it until around season 4 or 5. I love them all, own them all on DVD, but I have to say, with season 4, they really started kickin' some major bootay. I loved the ongoing story for that season and it remains one of my favorites.

Yep, I definitely agree with you there. I love that they have a version of Zod we haven't ever seen before, the younger version I mean.

Oh I know what you mean! I don't watch much TV at all and Smallville is one of a handful of shows that I watch every single week... when it's on anyway. (The fact that I have to wait until 4/2 to see what happens next annoys me to no end. ) So yeah, I'm definitely going to miss it when it's done.

I really can't wait to see what more they do with Checkmate. That 2 hour episode they had a few weeks ago was kicka$$. I loved it. I kind of like what they did with Tess at the end of that one too, was a twist I was not expecting.

I was also thinking about the whole Lex thing. I read somewhere that he was done with the show, he wouldn't be coming back at all, but I think it's going to suck if he doesn't. I mean, they should at least bring him back at some point, whenever the show is ending I mean. I'd prefer it if they did it sooner than that, but I just don't see that happening. Still, it would be a shame if the show were to end without at least one more appearance by Rosenbaum.

Yeah, S10 will be the last...just don't know who'll be there besides Tom (and Erica, really, because they have to have Lois). Everything I'm hearing is that it's likely to get a renewal in May....they're just hashing out contracts.

Ditto, I'm impatient and I like to know what's coming. Doesn't take away from the episode when I watch it on TV or DVR so I continue to do it as much as possible.

Yep, with ya on that. I like what they're doing with them these past few eps. It's going to be interesting to see how they work that one out though. As we all know, there is no Chloe Sullivan, so I'm curious to see what they'll do with her when all is said and done.

Yeah, Rosenbaum won't even consider coming back unless he can wear a bald cap. He refuses to shave his head again, or at least he was last time they talked to him (which was the last time they thought they'd be wrapping up the show). I think he's willing to do a few eps, maybe 4, so see out the show when that happens, but I'd be amazed if he did more... He really, really wanted beyond SV.

I can't say I blame him. He's gotten so much recognition for his portrayal of Lex that transitioning into something else is going to be hard. Can we say typecast?

They would have to do something major to get him to come back. I think he did mention interest in many a few episodes or the series finale, but I'll believe it when I see it. A lot of actors on that show are disgruntled with how their characters (and themselves) were handled.

*jumps up and down* Can't wait for those either, particularly the second one. As far as Lex goes, I just think it would be weird to end the show without him. I feel like they need to tie up the loose ends with him before the show can be over. I mean, as far as the newer audience knows, he's dead. Those of us that are, maybe a little too familiar with Superman, know he can't be dead. He's freakin Lex Luthor!

Sorry, but I just don't get that statement. How can Clark and Lois be negligible??

I used to be a huge Lana fan....until the whole her and Clark dynamic became overly repetitive. How many seasons did they go back and forth? Eight! That's a bit much. I'm glad she's not on the show anymore though. Her in the picture made it too hard for the whole Clark/Lois situation to blossom, which it really needed to do. I didn't really care for the way they did the whole Doom situation. They could have worked it out much better IMHO.

I have to say, I miss some of the characters that aren't on anymore. Martha and Lionel in particular. I about flipped out when Lex killed him! I didn't get the chance to watch all of that season while it was on, I had to wait until it came out on DVD. I was so NOT expecting that at all.

I tell you one thing though. I am interested to see what they're going to do with the end of this season. With the towers being down, there's the future that Lois saw down the drain. Mucho cool scene at the end of the last ep though. I just wish they'd do the same thing with Clark already. I wanna see him fly again! Doing it in the beginning of the 4th season was just a tease. But as we obsessed ones know, that wasn't technically Clark.

Ok, so I know that season finales are supposed to be cliffhangers and they're supposed to keep us intrigued enough to obsess over the show returning for months at a time, but this is just beyond anything I can stand. I just watched the Season 9 Finale for Smallville last night, thank goodness for the DVR or I would have missed it entirely, and I'm... ugh, what's the word I'm looking for here... annoyed, excited, skeptical, concerned... any and all of them will work.

As I have said before I love this show and always will. I've been watching it for years and I like the directions they've taken with it, especially recently (with the exception of them killing Jimmy, though I'm sure they'll take care of that before the show is over for good). Moving Lana out of the picture and beginning the Clark/Lois relationship was one of the best moves they ever made. I like the whole Chloe/Oliver storyline as well, but as we all know that one isn't going to last so I'm sure she'll end up dead or something in the end. My biggest gripe at the moment is Martha being the Red Queen, for some reason it doesn't sit well with me. Her relationship with Perry White makes even less sense to me, but what do I know? (The scene in his latest episode where Lois saves him is far too reminiscent of the save Clark made a few years ago too.)

Now, the season finale, the last scene is the main focus here. I know Clark has had his powers taken away from him before and he's always managed to get them back one way or another, but this time I'm just not seeing how it's going to happen. With Zod and the rest of the Kandorians gone and Kara no longer in the picture, there are no more Kryptonians to help him get his powers back, or save him from death as he's falling off the top of the Daily Planet. I mean, there's only so many times the Martian Manhunter can save Clark at the last second. Oli obviously won't be able to do anything as he was taken away at the end of the episode. Perhaps the other Justice League members will return to help Clark somehow, but on this I'm doubtful. There obviously has to be some way for him to retain his powers and finish off the final season of the show (*wipes tear*), but I'm just not seeing what it is. And this right here is why I'm so annoyed yet excited at the same time. While most of the other season finales have left me with the same feeling, I can usually come up with a few different ideas on how they would fix the issues. Not so much for this one. Maybe I'm just having a massive brain block or something but I can't seem to do it. We know his powers aren't gone for good because it was only blue kryptonite that was used on him, so there's a chance for him to get them back. But HOW?!?!?!

I know there's nothing I can do but sit and wait to see what will happen come September, which is frustrating to say the least. That's the problem with shows like this in my opinion. I realize the actors need time off but could you at least leave me with a little something more than me screaming at my TV to give me more more more!!!!!!
