System for organizing your writing contacts?

Hello all,

Buttonthecat's question about cold calling got me wondering, as I make an attempt to get myself organized: What system do all of you use to keep your networking/cold calling contacts organized? At the moment, I'm just setting up a spreadsheet, but would like to use something where I could set reminders for myself to call people, and perhaps categorize them as well.

Try a contact management software called "ACT". I heard it's very helpful. I plan to use it in the future when my contact list grows. It's not cost-effective (for me) at this stage.

If you're ready for it-check your local office supply where you can compare similar programs, in case "ACT" is too pricey.

I have a spreadsheet. That's all.

I used to have lots of handwritten notes on scraps of paper, post it notes and napkins.

Thanks, Shaldna and Cath! After posting that question, I decided to download a contact organizing software, since the spreadsheets I tried making ended up being huge. Plus, I really like that the software program has a search function, so I can make sure I'm not entering somebody twice (which I'm prone to doing).

Contact Organizer Deluxe from PrimaSoft. You can create a log of all activity between you and the contact, search by company or person's name, set reminders, make certain things different colors. It's pretty easy to use, and they've got a free trial period before you have to buy it.
