Correct Format for Book

I'm writing a Sci-Fiction and wanted to know is there a rule to follow in formatting a book in MS Word.

Right now, I'm using Double space
margins of 1" top, 1" bottom, 1.25 either side
and Times New Roman 12 for font size.
Is this the correct way?

More or less. But when you go to submit make sure that you look for any specific guidelines the publisher requests. Not following instructions is usually a one-way ticket to the trash pile.

Though as Chris says, any subs guidelines trump everything else, but they don't usually deviate too much
