Am I the only one who thinks it's a glaring omission for Absolute Write not to have a dedicated room to Travel Writing, under the "General" or "Genre Specific" sections? Surely this burgeoning form deserves equal attention as "Business and Technical" or "Sportswriting and Fitness Writing."

Actually, since I tend to be a lumper not a splitter, I'm forever looking for ways to roll forums into each other, rather than splitting them out even further.

There's simply never been enough demand for a dedicated Travel forum. There are a handful of rooms where travel-writing threads are perfectly appropriate, though.

cheers!

Hi, Mac. Thanks for your observations.

If there's insufficient demand, that probably decides it. But, while I concede I am a
splitter and not a lumper, travel writing has unique demands, techniques and tips which may not always be relevant to other writing forms and which could get lost in a broader thread.

Starting a thread about travel writing isn't at all a problem. And if you start a thread, say here in Freelance, and it proves enormously popular, it could lead to, well, all sorts of things.

But probably not a pony.

I guess you can put it in mostly any forum, but yeah, I think more people are traveling now than ever and it will probably continue to grow.
