Betsy Mitchell, Del Rey's Editor in Chief, blogs about what she said "no" to in 2009 and gives numbers. Fascinating read if a little bit scary. Keep in mind that there are five or six other editors making acquisitions under her (including my editor, who picked me up last September), so her numbers don't represent the entire sum of Del Rey's activity, but here's the kicker: Every one of these are agented submissions, because Del Rey doesn't accept unsolicited manuscripts!
