It's a MG mystery about a brother and sister following puzzle-like clues to a long-lost document that will help save an elderly woman's historic home.
I polished this with the help of my RL writing group, and my query got a ton of bites. Several of my partial requests turned into fulls, but all of my fulls came back no. My most recent rejection did tell me that if I do some revisions and add to the plot she would like me to resubmit, but after a couple of re-reads I am really stumped on how to fix it.
She said that it was almost there for her but that something seemed to be missing. To give you an idea of the areas that may need work to see if this is something that might be right for you, here are the two main critiques she gave:
1) The MC: "a more distinct voice – I want to feel like I really know who she is and have her be a little more fun."
2) The suspense: "the plot works pretty well although they figure things out very quickly and easily; I almost wanted more obstacles in their way... for me the element of suspense wasn’t really there in a big enough way. I felt like it all came together a little too sweetly."
If this is something that sounds interesting to you I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks!
