I am just starting to revise. This is the third novel length project that I have drafted, but the first one was a crime against humanity, and the second was merely bad.
And there might be some hope for this one.
I finished it about the end of November, and (taking Stephen King's advice from On Writing) put it in a trunk for six weeks. I know that this is a little melodramatic, but I got my Grandfather's trunk down from the attic for that part.
Four days ago, I hit six weeks. I used those six weeks to read a couple of books on revision.
And, the revising process isn't so bad. I am actually pretty excited. There were some fairly major things wrong in the first three chapters, but nothing that can't be fixed fairly easily.
I wonder if I will feel the same was twenty chapters from now, when I get to the parts where I was writing really quickly, just to get to the end of the story.
I am pretty excited at this point.
