The last I heard, there are still no definite plans for a Dark Tower film/TV series, but why should that stop us? Who are you nominations for cast and director of an adaptation of King's books?

Even though he's too old, I really have trouble picturing anyone other than Clint Eastwood for Roland.

Are there any plans? Of course they'll be something eventually since Hollywood seems to love turning Stephen King's novels into visual drivel.

I'd like to see Hugh Jackman as Roland, he's sorta got a roguish cowboy feel to him.

Hugh Jackman is a good choice. I was thinking Viggo Mortensen, too.

My list of actors I hope are not cast as Roland: Jim Carrey, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Johnny Depp, Leo DiCaprio, Mike Meyers, Harrison Ford, Will Ferrel.

Wild card: Tom Hanks.

Jada Pinkett Smith as Susannah. I really must insist.

Definitely Clint Eastwood as Roland, ideally from the Josey Wales era.

I think Enver Gjokaj from Dollhouse would make a good Eddie, or maybe Sam Rockwell.

Colm Feore as the man in black. He more or less did the same role in Storm of the Century, and I thought he was really good. Or maybe Al Pacino?

Director: Sergio Leone or John Carpenter.

Hugh Jackman is too young for my taste. Is he even in his mid-forties yet? I'm digging Carpenter as director although I can't see him getting the chance to do it.

Naomi Harris as Susannah/Odetta

Emile Hirsch as Eddie Dean

Max Records as Jake Chambers

Viggo Mortensen or a young Clint Eastwood as Roland

Clint Eastwood as he was when he played Josey Wales would be perfect. I wonder if Stephen King pulled some inspiration from him.

He's 41. In the first book, Roland wasn't that old (30's maybe?), and with some movie magic they can age Jackman a bit. Plus, I wanna see him as a gunslinger. :D

Maybe Sam Raimi should direct since he's freed up now.

Just please please please not Haley Joel Osmond as Jake. Please, for the love of all that is holy.

I had that same thought. None of the Harry Potter kids either.

He's still alive?

On some level of the tower, yes. Yes he is. Hereabouts probably not.

Roland: Daniel Day-Lewis --->or Jeremy Irons<---

Oh hell yes. Barring the invention of a time machine to snatch Clint Eastwood out of the Carter era I think we have a winner. I like the idea of a Roland with a vaguely posh demeanor, and Irons would nail the humorless obsessive/compulsive thing.

The Frank Darabont idea is good too. As long as we're daydreaming, how about a 3-4 season HBO series? Season 1 (DT, Dot3) is Carpenter, Season 2 (Waste Lands, Wizard & Glass) is Darabont,...?

Jeremy Irons as Roland? Interesting. He could do Roland's dark side no problem but could he do Roland's other side?

Clint Eastwood in The Good The Bad and The Ugly was Kings inspiration for Roland.

Watch Dead Ringers. Featuring a pair of twins with quite different personalities, played by Jeremy Irons & Jeremy Irons.
