Hmm, I can't find on there where it says how much it is.

Have you noticed that writer's conferences are expensive. I was going to go to the SCBWI convention in NY at the end of January because my friend (roskoebaby from AW) was having her book launch there, but I can't afford spending that much on two days.

Wow.

The Backspace one was $500. This NY one was around $200 I think.

I'm used to paying $45 for a three-day SFF convention. Maybe $65 if it's a big one.

I really wanted to go to SCWBI in LA this summer. My agent is in LA, and I have family in San Diego.

BUT, the last day would be the first day of school here in GA, and me not being there for the first day would go over like a lead balloon with my principal. LOL

I'm so bummed! I'm still gonna see about visiting my uncle and meeting up with my agent.

And dude, for 1k,I'd expect to get to shower with N*ath*n Br*nsf*ord. LOL

I'm going to New York at the end of January to meet up with people who are going to the SCBWI (so excited!) but it's too expensive for me to actually go to the conference (almost 400 dollars. Just not in the budget right now.)

But Lee, the Massachusetts one is a definite maybe for me! I want to since it's not too far & I know you'll be there!!

Maybe it was around $200 for one day, LOL. I just remember thinking it was out of my price range.

I heard from a few friends who have gone, and they say its a LOT less expensive than RWA. And they say it is one of the best YA conferences out there! Now I am doubly excited!!! (I know a Harpercollins editor is going and doing 5 page critiques and I know someone who has gone the past three years and got editor requests all three years! EEpp!)

I saw some questions about the price. The NESCBWI site had this listed on Anindita Basu Sempere's blog:

How much does the conference cost?
The following list does not include critique or special event fees:

Friday, Saturday (SCBWI members): $145
Sunday only (SCBWI members): $110
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (SCBWI members): $225
Friday, Saturday (non-member): $165
Sunday (non-member): $125
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (non-member): $275

The hotel pricing is $100/night and I think the manuscript crit is $50

I'm thinking about going Friday and Saturday. I'd love to go Sunday but it's my daughters ballet recital (and my birthday!!).
