Hi everyone! I have been a lurker on these boards for a while now but have only recently started posting as I am now actively querying to agents on my children's early chapter book. I was curious as to the numbers of queries/rejections/requests everyone is encountering in this process. If you are actively querying (or better yet if you are a success story and found your agent), would you mind posting your stats here? The rejections make my head swim and although I think I am tapping the correct pool of agents/agencies, any advice or suggestions for those currently accepting queries on chapter books (6-9 years age range) would also be graciously accepted!

There is a great place to find agents currently accepting what you write: www.agentquery.com There's a search box.
Also, everyone's stats will be very different. Basically, if your query gets no responses or all "no" after sending about ten of them, revisit the query. (Go to Share Your Work here if you want a critique.) If your query gets a response, and they ask for a partial, that's good. If all partials are rejected (say, after five partials), you might want to revisit your first few chapters. And remember: every agent has differing likes and dislikes. One agent could say "No way!" and another might just love it so much he or she will want to rep you.

A lot of people comment about the process in the specific agency threads in the Bewares & Background section. So, you may be able to find support and comfort by looking there.
