When I started writing my book I used googledocs. I made each chapter a separate document for numerous reasons. Today I decided to create a final draft in microsoft word. My googledocs page count was 401. My ms word page count in 281. I'm perplexed. I fiddled with the margins and paragraph spacing a bit but it didn't make that huge a difference. Any ideas on what happened? I am freaking out now that my manuscript isn't long enough. I have 125,249 words, no clue if that is appropriate length for a fantasy novel. ARGH! :Headbang:

I also like writing in googledocs and then moving to Word. But I try not to pay attention to page count because you can change the font, font size, and as you mentioned page margins. Also, you could justify the page (which I don't recommend unless a publisher asks for it) and that would make a difference as well. I go by computer word count now, which most of the publishers I know of/target use. Otherwise, there's the handy dandy 250 word per page formula. And since most publishers guidelines are X number of words, it makes more sense to me to calculate words, not pages.
