Welcome to all Weekend Updaters, past, present and future. Yes, it's a new thread for a new year!
To refresh for those long-time Updaters and to clarify for all the new ones -- we're here to help you achieve your goals by being the place where you're accountable, being a cheering section, the shoulder to cry on, the folks who say those people who rejected you are fools, FOOLS, and they'll rue the day, the folks who cheer wildly when you get an acceptance, and so on.
The "Rules" for posting here are pretty simple.
1. You don't have to write humor to post here -- any writer writing in any or all genres can post here. But you can be funny if you want. We're all over the funny.
2. Every weekend, starting on Friday and ending on Sunday, we post the progress we've made with our various writing careers. This includes whatever you consider part of your career -- writing, editing, submitting, critiquing, promotion, brainstorming, research, etc. It's your career, it's up to you.
3. How to report? Give us your word count for the week, your submissions for the week, and anything else you did to move your career forward. It's that simple.
4. Since many writers are also artists and musicians, we count art- and music-related progress as well, as long as it's also part of your overall career.
5. The WPR Dominatrix (that's me) hands out virtual prizes and encouragements and so forth. Sometimes there are reporting challenges that all are encouraged to participate in, since they build writing skills (we swear).
6. There are prizes for: The most words written in a week; the most submissions for the week; the first to report each Friday; and the last to come in late (we don't encourage competition for this one!). Sometimes the WPR Dominatrix hands out extra prizes, depending on her mood and what someone's done. You never can tell.
7. What counts for submissions? Anything where your piece could be rejected. Blogs count for word count, but not for submission, UNLESS your blog can (really and truly) be rejected by someone else other than yourself, aka an actual editor/boss. When posting, be sure to make the distinction for a rejectable blog, so it can count in your submissions tally for the week.
8. Remember that being accountable helps achieve goals. We encourage updates even when someone hasn't done anything or anything much. The act of reporting IS an important step, and we want to hear from you, even if it's to say you achieved squat for the week.
9. Yes, if you drift away and come back there are no penalties. This is a support thread, not your job or your mom. Therefore, it's up to you how frequently you update. Studies have shown that being accountable is a huge factor in success (seriously, and we are not making this up), but it's all down to you, and we will not be down ON you.
Still confused about how it works? Check out the 2009 thread for examples.
So, welcome to 2010, the start of the next decade! (Really, it is. Look it up.) Let's make 2010 the Year of the Updaters and really achieve those career goals!

You mean... there's prizes? I never knew this was for any genre... I have decided to write this year like a writer - and this whole accountability thing is so very necessary!
I've got my whole writing year planned out, so I shall be reporting! :) I hope there are shiney, glittery things to be had.... I like prizes.... :)

Oh yes. Any and every genre, including nonfiction and writers of articles and so on. If you're creating, we're the place.
And lots of prizes. Sparkling smileys with extra encouragements on top and so forth. And weekly competitions to see who's achieved the most. It's definitely the place to be!
So, welcome, Bettielee! We'll be glad to have you join us!

Did 5 blog posts this week, if you go back to last Sunday. This may have to do with having no sleep this week, cuz kitty is in heat. I still think it should count toward my awesomeness, but I am probably biased.

And, to commemorate the birthday... :Cake: :e2flowers
And, our word count line is drawn at 200. Is anybody (please, please) gonna beat that? (I can't imagine the gloating we'd get from WhinerGirl if she won the word count award on this particular week...but it would be painful for the rest of us, I'm sure.) Let's find out...

My turn.
This week I:
1. Continued Club 100 -- today is Day 934
2. Did some critique
3. Did some mentoring
4. Spent time on the phone and in emails with my agent
5. Got news: good news -- invited to participate in another anthology (whoo hoo!); bad news -- editor doesn't like the story I'd subbed and wants a new one; good news -- I have until the end of March to write it -- so good news wins, LOL
6. Worked on edits for Alien Tango, still in the adding in phase, word count 121,645 -- 3,820 words written
That's it for me! Hope everyone had a safe, happy, and wonderful New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and let's make the first week of 2010 really count, writing-wise!

Ummm, I realize I've been missing in action, but I didn't realize I was missing THE action.
I chose this festive time of year to hop creatively from sinus infection to flu with a sidestep in the direction of pneumonia. I'm not the sickly type, so I wasn't prepared for all the activity. I've come to appreciate the simple act of breathing.
In the two days this week when I've been lucid (some say that's more than when I'm healthy), I did 1,087 words.
My resolution for the New Year is to get a flu shot. Because I HATE life lessons.

I need to stop quitting coffee over and over. The fog and headache have lifted and I find myself 3 pages deep in posts.
You know you've gone too far when quadruple shot lattes are the standard any your eyebrows twitch independently of each other.
My characters suffered with me and refused to play all week, so I've been editing and working on my non-fic. It's amazing, but I think a headache helps with pontification.
Anyway, I won't sieze any sparklies this week, but I can report 1,500 words of forward progress. At least there is no Chapeau of Shame for me.

It's only too much caffeine if you stop, my lad. Otherwise, it's just what keeps you going. Editing is good, working on the nonfic is good, and that's a nice word count for someone who's having issues with some of nature's best stuff (caffeine, sugar, chocolate, fat and alcohol...does a writer need anything else?). True, you're on time, Haggie-Poo, so no Chapeau of Shame (Note for Quinn AND Bettielee: Did so mention it, it's there, I just sort of glossed it over is all...because I don't WANT to give it out, it's just that some of you MAKE me from time to time...). And, because I know how to read your particular posts, 100 words is still something much more than nothing. Sure, it's close TO nothing, but it is NOT nothing, and so, you receive a reasonable good enough for a week that was, we'll be kind, full of many non-writerly things to do.

It's also been hard to find writing time that didn't look like I was pulling away from the family so I haven't put in the BIC time necessary.
Catholicmom ran a piece Wanting Awe that people liked. That's it, starting 2010 with the chapeau of shame and writer's block. ew.

I play with my parents for a weekend and the new thread is three pages long on day 4 of the first report series????????? What gives?
Okay. It's Monday. My five kids went back to school. My teenager is bored with his book and the fact that school won't start until Wednesday when he jumpstarts with the exam cancelled before Christmas.

We talk a lot. What can I say? But, late or not, 3 good blogs, other writing (scrapped writing still counts as writing), and a live piece is good, Wonder Woman. You may indeed be getting the FIRST Chapeau of Shame of 2010, but you still get a hearty well done as well.

And now it's time for the rest of the first rewards of the new decade! (Many thanks to SherryTex for being sure to come in late so we got to christen the 2010 Chapeau...I burned the 2009 one -- too many Haggie cooties.)
Winning this week's word count award with a nice, big 5,140 is bettielee! Nice way for the new girl to represent!
:Jump::Jump::Jump:
I am sadness itself that we had no submissions at all this week. However, in fairness, submitting much of anything in the last 2 weeks of the year is always a) hard and b) potentially going to be lost in a frightening horror of overflow, be it in inbox or mailbox.
But there is no excuse for THIS week...
Who will win next week's awards? Will it be...YOU? :e2steer:

oooooh! Minority Report! Tom says it, twice like! :) John Anderton is the character. The time I remember, he's being chased for the pre-murder of this guy, and his co-worker says "You don't have to run, John," all emo like, cuz he's all twisted about going after his friend and boss, and probably, in Tom's eye, mentor, even tho the guys is older, but you know, it's all about Tom's character, John Anderton, and more importantly, Tom Cruise, actor. Tom slaps one of the three emotions he is capable of projecting and says "Everybody runs!"

Good news, I'm first this week.
Bad news, no submissions and very little writing. Dry spell and massive amounts of activities like parents, little emergencies at school, the return of school itself and boat loads of homework that have kept my kids up to 10, 11 and 12. We've been back a week and I'm in need of a break.
Blog: Say Cheese!, Reran Disciplining Cupie Doll for Tuesday.

So I'll keep my comments to myself. *snickering*
I thought I was going to win the banana -- darn east coast time.. but while I was up at 4ish am to have beaten Wonder Woman I was too busy being miserable with contractions to actually get out of bed. But since I have no choice about my state of "upness" (I love inventing words.. :D ) as 3ft's got to get to school and Hubby needs a ride to work I figure might as well update. :)
This week I:
1.) continued Club 100 -- still don't know what day. I'll look it up soon or start the number over for the easy fix. Really it doesn't matter the day (Although Jeanne's 900 days looks IMPRESSIVE) it just matters the results.. :D
2.) started re-reading Prophecy's Guardians as it's been forever since I've touched the manuscript and added about 300 words throughout the WIP and am now ready to get started on new stuff.
3.) wrote 300 words for Sand Screamers
4.) as always, the ever present Web Work (that really helps keeps me on track with Club 100)
5.) went to the hospital for 3.5 hours yesterday and while I'm in labor -- and dilating and doing everything I'm supposed to -- I'm not doing it quite fast enough so they sent me home even though I'm supposed to have a c-section in FOUR DAYS!!!!!

Everyone has slower weeks, Wonder Woman, even a superheroine. Blogging is good, Catholicmom is nice and steady, and grants inquiries are also important. Stop stressing about the ideas, they'll come. Maybe try writing about "nothing" -- hey, it workd for "Seinfeld".

My turn. This week I:
1. Continued Club 100 -- today is Day 941
2. Did a variety of work on promoting Touched by an Alien (have I mentioned that it's available for pre-order right NOW?)
3. Got confirmation that I've been officially invited into the Love & Rockets anthology
4. Spent time on the phone and in emails with my agent
5. Talked with the L&R editor about what she wants to see from me and pitched for another anthology she's doing as well
6. Started writing my next speech for the HS creative writing class (due next week...gosh, it'll be keen if I'm ready, won't it?), How to Tell When You're Ready, and What to Do About It -- 350 words written
7. Worked on my short for the anthology, it (of course, because it's always the way) headed itself merrily towards horror, so Waiting -- 1,645 words written
8. Worked on another attempt at a short for the anthology, likely to be changed, including title, so -- 2,465 words written
9. Worked on edits for Alien Tango, current word count 122,990 -- 1,345 written (and, despite how it looks, words were removed, TOO)
That's it for me. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Gate Walker has made a few sales, and the comments to my email have been really good. Made my heart soar.
Tri
Awesome news on the agent, Tri. Keeping all the digits crossed! And more requests coming through means more options for you! Great work on the editing on PJ. And good news on Gate Walker. It's available, folks, on Amazon.com. Let's all get our copies and support our gentle giant! Well done, Tri, as per always!

Well no one is as fantabulous as you anyways! I desperately wanted to do a V-BAC but they wouldn't let me. *pout* 3ft had to be a C-section as his cord was wrapped around his throat not one, not two, but THREE times and because of that I have to have one with this li'l guy too. Well, less than 100 is still words. Oh, sure, not a lot of words. Not as many words as the woman about to give BIRTH managed, but still, words. Not as many as, well, almost everyone else managed (by a long shot), but it's still forward progress. And, hey! It's more than Mary! (Oh, sure, she's not here for writing, she's here for research, but still, I'll throw the little dog a bone. A very little bone...)
BUT, checking in is, as we all know, most of the battle, and you did write and check in, albeit likely last, so, well done!

Speaking of next week...
Well, really the week after this one, since WhinerGirl begged me to do her a solid and not assign this over the week she's popping out Haggis, Junior...
We're going to revive the longstanding Humor Forum "make your update more interesting" challenge. Sometimes we have you write it in verse, sometimes make it a love letter, sometimes enter it like you're a character in a specific movie, and so on. Usually we suggest you make it funny, but that's not a requirement (the challenges just usually work out to be funny, at least in execution).
THIS time, since next week's update will just precede my birthday (Jan. 25, for those keeping score at home), I'm challenging you all to write your update in the form of a personals ad trying to find the most elaborate yet totally useless gift possible on Craigslist or similar. (Lemme know if you need an example. For those old-timers here, I know you know what to do. ;))
Everyone who plays will, of course, receive extra special smileys, and the winner/s (aka, those I like the best) will receive even more smileys. Buckets of smileys. Cascades of smileys. And so on.
We'll update like regular this week, but for activity during the w/o Jan. 18, aka for update dates Jan 22-Jan 24, it's the update challenge.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's creativity. (And probably learning far too much about how everyone's minds work, too.)

At the urging of "She-who-cracks-the-whip," I'm checking in. I haven't written anything. I've got some problems. I recently had another stroke, a bigger one that involved bleeding into the brain not my usual TIA's. Anyways, the effects are a little more difficult to overcome. I have the regular coordination problems (I blame them on the strokes and as long as no one remembers my coordination before then blaming the strokes is okay.) In addition to walking upright issues, I can't remember a lot of things and my speech issues are more pronounced. As for writing, I write a few paragraphs, lose my train of thought, and forget what I've written or was writing about. I can remember who Rufus Griswold was but not what happened yesterday or why I went to the grocery store in the first place. Things like that. That's why I haven't been checking in with my progress. Soooo....now you know. I am improving, or at least, I think I'm improving. I know I have great ideas and am ready for that agent. I just can't remember what the ideas were!

Old Rufus was the real villain in the Poe story. He convinced Poe's mother-in-law, Maria Clemm, to give him Poe's papers, unpublished stories, and other items, claiming Poe had appointed him executor of the Poe estate. He sweetened the deal by telling the destitute Clemm that he was writing a book and she would get a portion of the profits. Rufus was lying, big time, and he took Poe's papers home, rewrote them, and burned the originals based on some perceived insult from one of Poe's critiques of Griswald's work. He sent Clemm ten copies of his book, which she sold on the streets for pennies. Griswald is also suspected of being the mysterious Ludwig whose obituary of Poe in the NY Times said something like, "Although no one will care, Edgar Poe is dead. Good riddance." (Not a direct quote but a paraphrase of the original.) Griswald is responsible for the gross misinterpretations of Poe's life and the long-believed idea that Poe was an opium addict. Only in recent years has the diagnosis of rabies come to light and the other alternative view of Poe's demise, that he was the victim of election-day violence, particularly common in Baltimore politics. There endeth the lecture for the day.:D

Well, after another uneventful week it’s time to update again. I swear it was just Friday -- like a week ago, right? :D
This week I:
1.) continued Club 100 -- still haven’t a clue about the day but as it’s not as impressive as Jeanne’s infinity x’s infinity it doesn’t really matter as long as I have the forward motion. :D
2.) worked on the website
3.) did some beta reading
4.) wrote 200 words on Prophecy’s Guardian
5.) wrote 300 words on Sand Screamers (I need to come up with a different title I think)
6.) um… oh yeah, AND I had a baby!!!! -- Baby Zach, born on Wednesday morning at 8:29am, 8 pounds, 3 ounces, 19 inches, and despite that dog's insinuations, he has MY nose!
That’s it for me!!! I totally OWNED the dancing banana this week!!! Even after giving birth!!! Now if I could only train it to change diapers and clean up the spit-up!!!

Me? I've actually written stuff this week. 200 words so far. I'll write more, but you won't hear about it until next weekend.

Hi Appy, I hope you are getting better every day. *Adds another prayer*
LG, either you are a Goddess or you are posting during the midnight feeding. I fear I may not get to dance with the bananna for quite a while. Maybe if I ask nicely...?
Forward progress stalled this week. My main character looked at me and said "Wuh?" I dissected my current novel, moved each scene he is the POV character for into sections and re-assembled it. I found some discrepancies in his motivations and personality. I'm editing and modifying the character sheet. About 700 words progress made, but a lot of gaps filled.
I also pulled down some old Tom Clancy, Ray Bradbury and Terry Pritchard books and re-read a bit. It was both inspiring and humbling.
Well, back to my decaf latte and the story.

No banana. No inquiry. The only thing of significance I can report is that I'm off to get two new pairs of glasses. One for most things, and a special pair for the computer. Somehow it seems to pale compared to whiner girl's achievement. Better her than me though.
And Quinn--decaf and latte do not belong in the same sentence.

Nothing that exciting for me this week (thank goodness), more editing, blogging and networking my head off. I'm slowly pulling together a book proposal for the Zombie Dating Guide but already feeling a little lost on the process for a humor book. O.o
Editing is good, blogging is good, and networking is so necessary, as are proposals. And you're naturally funny, Wynter, so relax and just let it flow.

Pretty sad when you have to get up in the wee small hours of the morning just to win a banana. But, then, it's whinergirl we're talking about.
Me? I've actually written stuff this week. 200 words so far. I'll write more, but you won't hear about it until next weekend.
Oh. Rejections too. Or, rather, rejections, two. Can I get a banana for that?
Dissing the mother of your hybrid only days after giving birth? Bad dog! But good dog for the word count. Bummer on the rejections. Sorry, no banana for that, just our reminder that rejections prove you're doing it and it's not our fault the editors were idiots.

I'm challenging you all to write your update in the form of a personals ad trying to find the most elaborate yet totally useless gift possible on Craigslist or similar. (Lemme know if you need an example. For those old-timers here, I know you know what to do. )
In anticipation of the grand inquisitor/mistress of ceremonies, Queen of the Weekend Update and all that, Happy Birthday!
Who wouldn't want "vintage oil paint by numbers of big eyed cats/dogs and sweet chubby cheeked boys and girls on white velvet, and all for 20$!" Such a bargain. Frames not included.

Thanks for the early bday wishes, Sherry, and thanks more for the great example. Remember, gang, this is what we're looking for in next week's updates -- do it in the form of a funny ad on Craigslist for an elaborate yet totally useless gift.
Great work on the blogging, 2 submissions is a total way to go!, bummer on the rejection, keeping fingers crossed on the pending, and that gift idea is totally choice. Well done!

Editing and reassembling is all part of the process, Quinn. Nice job on the fixes, good work with the word count, and nice to see you doing some reading as well. Well done!

No banana. No inquiry. The only thing of significance I can report is that I'm off to get two new pairs of glasses. One for most things, and a special pair for the computer. Somehow it seems to pale compared to whiner girl's achievement. Better her than me though.
And Quinn--decaf and latte do not belong in the same sentence.
MM
Good luck on the eyewear, Mary. Shoot for one inquiry this week, just to make me happy. But well done for checking in no matter what.

My turn. Checking in as of Friday since I haven't done anything yet today.
This week I:
1. Continued Club 100 -- today is Day 948
2. Finished my first editorial editing round on Alien Tango, final count before the next round, 124,120 -- 1,130 words added, unsure how many taken out
3. Did some contest entry prep for Plush Life, it's done, pity I have to now write a 3 page synopsis (which is not yet started, LOL)
4. Completed my handouts for my speech, 1,925 words total -- 1,575 words written
5. Did a submission (and, got a nice but speedy rejection)
6. Edited and created the handout for my speech in February -- 500 words written
7. Did a lot of Raphael's Village work including a lot of editing
8. Did a variety of promotions for Touched by an Alien (still available for pre-order all over the place)
9. Gave my speech on How to Know When You're Ready to the high school kids
10. Worked on one short story, Waiting, 2,445 words -- 800 words written
11. Started another short story, this one an origin for one of my novel series -- 470 words written
That's it for me. Hope everyone has a great weekend! (Go Cardinals!)

I didn't keep up this week, but I know I didn't beat that word count. Geez, I couldn't even manage to have a baby.
But I did resurrect, edit, and rewrite several essays I have pegged for a larger work, start some new ones, and totally rework my Bombeck entry with a new slant.
I tried to check in yesterday, but my computer was being wanky, I had a bad cough, and the sun was in my eyes. I guess the sun won't be a problem when I'm wearing Haggis' bag. *Ew*

Little or no writing done, except to potential agents. It's a madhouse. Everybody wants something different, it seems. Sure there's offers, but some agents lag in response, some I've had to give status checks for fulls, one has disapeared, another one wants to talk about three of my books and must read them all. It's a thrilling, but a very dangerous juggle right now. I've already pissed one offering agent off. Gak.
I'm also monitoring my Booksie site for reader feedback, and checking my Amazon ranking like every 15 farking minutes.
I wish I were writing something new. But...I must, have to land an agent first and get that out of the way because of the two new books.

Turn that frown upside down, Tri. The agenting part is a huge part of the entire idea of forward motion, and you're doing tons of it. It's a juggle that takes time and focus and you're amazing in how you're handling it all. You have plenty ready and you're a great writer -- you can come up with the new once you get this agent situation taken care of. Until then, well done for doing the dance so very well!

And, I see you believe in truth in advertising. I...I want to buy...but I just can't bring myself to do it. I think you're going to be stuck with that mutt, but here's something to help get you through it.

Great looking guy, LG. You produce spectacular humanoids.
Turned in 4th monthly column for the magazine - 850 wc
Wrote 2 blog posts - 725
Spent some time looking for "real" job. Yeah, that was fun.
Great word count there, Nancy, and a steady submission there, too. Well done! Bummer on the "real" job stuff, hang in there.
:Clap::Clap::Clap:
Here's a hat. Join the party!

I'm 194 pages into pre-edit for new agent. Should be done by Sunday. Then it starts all over again for the other book, then the other. In the meantime, blasting the WWW universe, trying to get book reviews for Gate Walker, trying to sell copies, and write articles on all my display sites.
If anybody wants a free copy of Gate Walker, I'll send you the whole damn zip file with the different versions. You can hunt and peck one out. I'm a damn computer dunce (no secret there), and can't figure out how to unzip the blasted thing and pull files to send for reviews, much less save the damn thing in my documents. How frickin' embarassing.
Happy day,
tri--red-shifting
Tri, is this a new agent, signed deal sort of thing? Should we all be jumping up and down, or are we still at the preliminary stages? No matter what, that's a lot of editing, not to mention a ton of promotion work. Amazing job, as always!
:Clap::Clap::Clap:
Free e-copy of one of your books? I'd call that an awesome gift/offer, any day of the week!

Definitely a keeper, LG. How's our other little man?
1,807 words, 2 blog posts, 2 submissions
For sale: Barbie for President collector's edition doll. Comes with Sarah Palin glasses and contract with Fox TV. Will accept first offer.
Nice word count there, Bajaffe girl, and topped with blogs and submissions it's a big ol' well done!
:Clap::Clap::Clap:
Ooooh, a Barbie for Prez doll, complete with contract? Sounds awesome. Um...there's no Glen Beck doll that comes with it, though, right? 'Cause that would be a deal breaker...

First: Happy Birfday to Jeanne and welcome to the world, little peanut lostbaby! :) Congratulations, Mom!
Greetings, all. Had a couple lousy days this week, but I did get 13,874 (ezzactly!) on The Endways of the Gods.
Edited 20 pages of The Unicorn Conspiracy
I only made one Blog post... sad little blog!
I did beta read for three people, tho! I also had three people beta for me! It was quasi exhilarating. And nauseating. So a strange mix. Exhilaration and nausea.
and hate to sound like a noob, but what is this club 100?
also: free to good home: Un-spayed female cat. Surely the spawn of Basement Cat. Goes into heat every two weeks. Excellent alarm clock! Has three settings: 2 am, 7 am and 7:30 am on the weekends! Will go off AT ALL these hours! It's a miracle that no one has snapped this critter up! Can be used in devil summoning! Call now!
Thanks, BL! Excellent word count, one blog is better than no blog, beta reading is great, excellent job on the editing, so well done again!
:Clap::Clap::Clap:
I love cats, I must have the automatic heat machine. I must!
:e2woo::e2cookie:
And Club 100 is a commitment to write at least 100 words a day for 100 days. (You can set up your rules to include other things, like submissions, editing, etc., to count for a Club 100 achievement.) If you miss a day, you start over at 1. It's great for consistency (and I'm a huge proponent of it). PM me if you want more info on it.
Our word count line is now drawn at 13,874. Anybody gonna beat that? Let's find out...

My turn. This week I:
1. Continued Club 100 -- today is Day 955
2. Started yet another short story for the anthology (I'll say this, I'm going to have a LOT of begun novels by the end of this quarter...SIGH...)
3. Did a variety of Raphael's Village work
4. Completed first draft of contest synopsis for Plush Life
5. Did a variety of beta reading, critiquing and mentoring
6. Did a variety of promotional work for Touched by an Alien release
7. Started yet ANOTHER short story for the anthology (no that's not a repeat of #2...God help me)...soon, one of these will actually BE a short and not the start of a novel, right? Right???
8. Emailed with my agent about various things related to contracts (yay!) and promotion (ugh)
9. Did a variety of web-related work (an excerpt from Touched by an Alien is now up on my website and I have a Facebook fan page...these things happened via other, more tech savvy people than I, but I had to provide content and direction...and I added in the stress all by myself!)
I think that's it for me. But I also have this set of beautiful, *vintage* Ginsu knives. Did you realize these suckers still cut, even 30 years past their prime? If you act now, not only will you get the complete set, but I'll also throw in that chopper thing that minces onions in moments, as well as a lot of cookery stuff that's seen better days but still works. Some of it even has baked on foods from yesteryear, making the entire set a nostalgic gift any cook would treasure. Make an offer, you only pay shipping and handling!

Get it together.
Oh. And I've written stuff too. I'll even post about it once this disgusting maternalisticism stops.

Wow, don't look in in a a few days and so much happens that I don't know where to start.
Happy Birthday Jeanne. I hope you celebrated so well that you have a hard time remembering it. I wanted to get you one of those doorway exercise thingies off of Craigs list, but someone beat me to it.
Thanks for sharing a picture of your progeny LG. I hope you get to sleep through the night soon. *Eyes banana*
I only wrote a few hundred words on my WIP and about 1500 words on a rant this week. I found a big plot hole I had to plug, so I did some editing and a lot storyline brainstorming. I think some of the chapters in my current novel WIP could be easily edited into stand alone short stories. I've also been playing with... *Grimaces* more plotting. I see the next two chapters, but can't see past that.
I found an inexpensive fantasy conference with a strong writers track, so I spontaneously dropped $45 and some frequent flyer miles for a few days of networking and inspiration. Money well spent! The world building seminar was great and I was amazed at how much I got out of a seminar about on the implications of fashion in fiction. I guess I made a good impression because when a moderator cancelled at the last minute, I was asked to lead a discussion on flash fiction and word economy. (Yeah, they actually picked the guy who has a hard time shutting up to talk about word economy)
So, here I sit sipping decaf in my favorite place to write, an airport holding area. The voices are chattering and the laptop battery is full. It's going to be a good day.
