Hey. So I'm a screenwriter that is taking his first crack at printing his first comic. It looks great and I would like to print 100-200 copies to send out to inverters, agents, and publishing companies. Any ideas on how I can get it printed cheep? It's color so the lowest price I have gotten is $6.40. Any ideas?

Hey,
There are a couple of POD sites that specialize in printing comics that I know of and should be considerably cheaper, depending on the number of pages.

http://ka-blam.com/printing/

There's also another one called comic express that I can't find the link for right now.

BTW, did you draw the comic yourself? If not, it would be great to learn how you went about finding an artist to draw the comic and any other info you can share about the process.

Best of luck,
Klaz.

Klaz. You're my new best friend. That site is great! I'm going to use them.

My story is that I'm an actors assistant that has written 8 screenplays. People like my work but I have made little money doing it. I have one script represented and other one is optioned so it's going well but my work has yet to be shown on screen. So I had the idea of writing and making my own comic so that more people would see my work and possibly want to read my other stuff or even use the comic as a jumping off point for a film.

I found a story board artist that is new to the industry. She is currently out of work and has time to dedicated to a comic. I'm paying her $1000 to draw, ink, color and do the cover on a 28 page comic. I feel bad paying her so little because she is an amazing artist but the comic should promote both of our talents.

Once she is done I'm going to print 100-200 copies and give them to everyone I know in the business. I'm also going to send it out to literary agents that specialize in graphic novels but the main thing is to show people in the film industry the diversity of my writing skills.

What else should I do with it? :)

Hey,
It sounds like you're doing everything right. A couple of things you could look into also...

Image Comics - You can send them a sample of the comic (minimum 5 pages) , exact guidelines on their site. They specialise in publishing comics and look at unsolicited submissions. So you can potentially send it to them while you're waiting to complete the issue. The good thing about Image is that you get to keep ALL the creator rights to your work, but their standards are pretty high.

The following is a recently updated list of pretty much every comic book publisher out there, if you want to follow that route :

http://www.optimumwound.com/the-sub...comic-and-manga-publisher-in-the-universe.htm

Also you should consider Dark Horse comics as they have a good reputation.

I'm not the most experienced out there, but if you need a bit more feedback I have time on my hands and will be happy to beta read your script for you.

BTW, if your artist is looking for more work, I'm in a similar sort of situation to yourself. I won't be able to pay her much more than what you are(maybe a little more), but if she's interested in potentially working on something else as a next project please ask her to drop me a line and I can tell her what the project is about.

Again, best of luck with the project.

I'd set up a website to put the comic up on as well.
