I'd go read up on this, but I haven't heard back from the two people I trust to send me good references, and an internet search turns up either information about women in ancient Egypt (not helpful) or more current information (mildly helpful, but still not what I'm after.)
I'm looking to make sure that when I'm establishing this protagonist, I don't make any grievous errors, but the sheer breadth of information I'm after makes me think I need books, not just a couple of questions answered by an expert. :} Can anyone shoot me any useful books or long-ish articles? I have access to Interlibrary Loan, and several friends in universities who may be able to get stuff that would otherwise be inaccessible.
