My latest MC is inspired by my Uncle Paul and i dont have a way to contact him and ask myself so i was wondering if anyone here can ID his rifle for me...

I think it looks like/might be a Remington 700 but i am no gun expert...

Also any idea on the scope?

Any help appreciated

NOTE: The picture link are of him with his kills so please dont look at them if this offends you

Neither am I, but venturing a guess...

The angle at the rear of the bolt certainly resembles that of a Browning A-Bolt rifle, and the rest of the trim makes this look like a Stainless Stalker, likely in .375 H&H since that's the minimum caliber as required by local law there in South Africa, and that caliber is the biggest offering in the A-Bolt, at least as presently listed on Browning's web site.

On the scope, I'm even less help than I may already have been, but I'll venture a guess and say it's a Leupold.

Whatever the gear, looks like a successful hunt. Congrats to your uncle.

Perhaps you should PM Chase. He seems to know these sorts of things. ;)

My husband and son agree, it's probably the Browning with a Leupold scope.

silly question but does it matter that he actually lives and mainly hunts in Australia?

Also it was a good hunt is bringing back i think 7 animals from South Africa...he was quite proud when i saw him last - 7 shots 7 kills

The caliber of the rifle would be the big question. That's something that gun aficionado's would find pertinent.

Summonere and Synonym and son have good gun eyes. The rifle is indeed a Browning A-Bolt II Stainless Steel Stalker, and the 'scope is a Leupold Gold Ring.

Further specifics become somewhat speculative despite the good quality photograph. Ever-sturdy and efficient, the Browning A-bolt's receiver is only long enough to allow trouble free operation, but this action looks to me even shorter than most.

If the photos were taken after the early 2000s, I suspect the cartridge is one of the four Winchester Short Magnums offered in the Stalker: 7mm WSM, .270 WSM, .300 WSM, or .325 WSM. Although any would do the job with such fine shot-placement, my choice on such game would be the two latter calibers.

The open bolt not only helps in identification, but is another indicator that your uncle knowns his business.
