So I've been salivating over the new Sherlock Holmes movie from the day I heard it was in production.

And it comes out on December 25.

And I'm having a baby on December 24.

Soooooo basically the only way I'm gonna see this in the theater is if I manage to snag some tickets to an advance screening in LA. I've entered a couple of contests, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask here at AW. It's a long shot, but you never know who is all connected!

Anyone? ;)

Goddammit, RDJ and Jude Law in the same movie.

I don't want to get banned (again) so I'm just gonna leave it there.

See, Mac? SP, behaving. For once. :D

Unfortunately, I live in Canada, not LA, otherwise I might've been able to arrange something. ;) (We'll get the film a couple of days before it goes on-screen.)

This is one I'm really looking forward to seeing, but I work Christmas day. My traitor son has said he's probably going to go see it Christmas day. Without me. *grr*

The trailer didn't look so good to me, I'm more interested in The Crazies and Shutter Island

Congrats on the baby! The movie does look good.

Huh? It'll be in theaters for a while. You'll have plenty of time to go see it. How long do you plan to be in the hospital? You won't need that much time to recover, it's only a matter of sitting there for two hours--you're not running a marathon!

I guess you mean you can't go b/c you'll have the baby. Can't you bring her or get a sitter for a couple hours?

I... I don't know. Well, I'm definitely not bringing him to the theatre, I hate it when people do that. But I... am not sure about leaving him. For a while. I think I may be very attached. :)

How long do movies generally stay in the theatre?

If they're really popular, at least a few weeks. If super dooper popular, maybe months? Depends on the size of the theatre complex.

Is your baby planning a scheduled arrival or is this just a due date?

The "due date" was Jan 2, but I'm having a c-section on Christmas Eve.

Unless he reorients himself. ::Fingers crossed:: He has 9 days to get with the picture. Otherwise I will spank him when he gets out. :D

Incidentally I don't want to name the person, but someone did contact me and can maybe score me some tickets! AW is awesome.

It'll be playing for at least a few weeks. In LA there are discount theaters that run films months after their release date, so even if you miss the first run you can still catch the second run at a discount theater--it'll prob. be a couple months at least before it's gone forever!

These are the Cinema 3 current show times:

You can see it includes Where the Wild Things Are and Astro Boy, both films that came out a couple months ago.

Count on 4 weeks at regular bigger theaters (like a place with screen count in the double digits). And then bargain theaters will pick it up. If it does well in award season, that'll extend the run even more.
