In the novel format, and what is the title of your book and summary? I hope to gain some idea of the truly creative minds that inhabit these forums by reading works.

Not yet, but soon :)

I have a pretty high end agent and it's being proposed at two major publishers, one of which I talked to before having the agent and has shown quite a bit of interest after reading 100 pages so my hopes are high!

Hopefully I can soon post here again and say I'M PUBLISHED!

Also, there are probably a number of people like myself who choose to maintain a bit of anonymity, so don't list their works in the AW library.

I have one print pubbed title in Historical Romance.

Wait, so if we don't have a novel published yet we aren't truly creative?

I have some short stories published, but until recently haven't finished a novel I liked enough to try to sell. Its requested full manuscript is sitting on a good agent's desk until after Christmas.

There are things we can learn from all people in all situations. Don't limit yourself to reading only what's been already published -- or only novels. One of the best ways to learn the craft of writing is to offer critiques of others' unfinished work. And you have a lot to learn from reading nonfiction, as well! Poetry, essays, plays -- everything can teach you something. There are truly creative minds all over the place.

^There are different kinds of creativity, and based on my experience trying to get a short story published for pay is just as difficult as publishing a novel. :D

Y'all get to stand over by the playwrights, screenwriters, and shepherds.

The buffet features truffles, tabouli, and trifle, with lots of tequila.

Oooh! If I have a very snooty, dry academic credential* or two, can I get me some truffles and trifles? Tequila's a given :D

* I'm not just making fun of others. I'm making fun of my only pubbed stuff; I promise ;)

I don't have any published novels, and I wasn't offended by the OP's post. I think he was just trying to compliment those who have published novels (perhaps because that's what's of interest to him right now) rather than insult those who haven't.

The OP may be curious on some level how "legit" this forum is. I was when I first visited. And while unpublished writers like me certainly can offer something to others, it sure wouldn't look good (for those trying to publish novels) if nobody who hung out here ever managed to get their novels published.

The best way to figure out what kind of place this is is to spend a long time lurking, clicking on people's links here and there to check out who they are.

My hand's up. Two historical fiction novels published, and I'm contracted with my publisher for two more.

That's a good question right now.
Yes, let's not get our knickers in a bunch. The OP did not say others were not creative. Let's take the "New Kid/Be Gentle" title as a bit of advice, okay?
