Under offer?

Very possibly a stupid question but here goes...

If an agent has a list of authors on their site but none of the titles are 'under offer', I take it this means none are being looked at by publishers?

My agent does not list "Under Offer" I've actually never seen or heard of that on an agent site. Sorry.

Generally if an agent has a list of titles on their site, it means they've already sold it. Very few agents list unsold projects or titles.*

My agency (in the UK) also doesn't list your title (or you) if it's not absolutely sold.

That page with the "under offer" language makes me very uncomfortable. I wouldn't sign with anyone who didn't have a list of books sold to the Big Five publishers.

YADS = Yet Another Display Site

Sites that list books in the hopes that an agent or editor will stumble upon them, be amazed by their brilliance, and offer a contract.

I've only ever seen "under offer" on agent sites and PM pages for agents who can't actually sell books.
