An introduction and NPR's best YA fiction of 2009

Hi all. Coming out of lurkdom to say hello and introduce myself. I'm a 30-something, YA-writer-hopeful. I'm currently working on a realistic novel.

What do you think of NPR's picks? I'll admit I wasn't familiar with any of them except for Charles and Emma, and even that I didn't realize was being marketed as YA.

I'm near the end of The Lost Conspiracy at the moment, and I'm liking it quite a lot. (Its UK title is Gullstruck Island.)

I borrowed Marcelo In the Real World from the library because it's about a teen with asperger's syndrome, which my son has. I never got around to reading it though. Maybe one day soon. The others I hadn't even heard of.

There is a newbie thread where you can opst intros and you might get more general "Hi! Welcome!" response there but I think posting the link in the YA forum was great

To be honest, I wouldn't have seen it if you had posted it in the Newbie thread. So thanks :)
