Okay, so the new Mod can smack me down if this isn't appropriate, but I wanted to share how much fun I had at my book signing yesterday!

I went to Lori Foster's author/reader gettogether this summer, but no one knew me, so I only signed a few books. Yesterday was the first local signing I've had. My host was the local Barnes & Noble.

I won't bore everyone with a long narrative (info dumping ;)), but I have never felt so loved in my whole life!! For three straight hours, all I did was hug people and sign books. I had so many former students there to support me! Four of them made special t-shirts just to wear to the signing! (They put the name of sex-based psychologists on their backs like they were wearing team jerseys, and all their numbers were 30-12!) :D I ended up selling 80 books when all was said and done. Amazing...

Anyway... There are pictures on my blog if you'd like to see them.

I'd love to hear other book signing stories!!!

Ummmmm...most of my booksigning stories are nothing like that. <G> The first one is usually the best.

After that...you're old news. <G> Most of my booksignings have consisted of sitting around, being asked did I actually write this book, and where can the person find ( the bathrooms, the new book by SOANDSO, etc.)

If I sell 5 books, I'm lucky. And happy. LOL. Well...okay, not really happy. <G>

This is why I only do signings with other authors most of the time. At least then I have someone to talk to.

Sorry. Wish I had chirpier stories to share. LOL.

Glad yours went well, and that you had such a wonderful time. :)

Thanks! I sure don't expect to have another one quite like this. I think the novelty for my students and their parents drew so many people. There were a few fellow teachers as well. I did have a few folks who showed up because of the local newspaper story, and there were several who were drawn by seeing the lines at the store, wanting to see what all the fuss was. ;)

It was probably a once in a lifetime experience, but I will treasure the memory. :)

I agree with Susan that the first is the best. Our first signing was AMAZING! Everybody we knew was there and bought a book. We sold out twice over with people having to wait until more were printed.

Ah, the sheer joy of it! :D

But nowadays, it really is that a 5 book sale is pretty good. Most of our best sales are at conventions. That will be next for you, I'm sure. The first convention where you have a LINE waiting for you as you arrive is the second best signing ever!

Congrats!!! I like book signings for one reason-- to assemble with a bunch of writer friends. We all have a good time, whether we sell a lot of books or not.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to my next signing. Several local romance writers are having a signing/gettogether around Valentine's Day. Should be a blast! :D
