I was having a little sneak around the 'Novels' board and came across this thread and thought that maybe it would be good to have around here. So, honestly, what is your favourite aspect of your novel and why?

My favorite aspect of DMaM is showing certain things from different POVs. Showing things that some characters don't know, but giving the reader clues about it (to be verified by later POVs).

But my favorite part is when I go to a certain girl's POV. She's an insomniac and fairly dreamy, and her POV is stream of consciousness and jumps to present. I adore the way she tells the story and how she goes off on tangents that come around and reconnect to the story.

My favorite part of Forever and a Death is how I can just shove my two MCs into the same room and they write the scene for me. Lots of chemistry...and not just the romantic kind, either.

With Witch Tourniquet, I just love all the revelations that occur, because so far they are eliciting the appropriate responses from my beta readers.

My favourite part are the bits that I didn't plan. Where the characters dived in and took it in totally unexpected directions.

Those scenes were adrenaline fuelled writing, where the words just flew onto the screen, and, oddly enough, the scenes that needed the least editing and tweaking. PLus love how they worked into the plot in ways I couldn't have planned.

In my novel, I enjoy my characters and how they interact with each other.

I think that my historical flashbacks are my favourite part of my novel, mainly because I think I managed to integrate them well into the text, I worked hard on the research to make them feel right for the time without feeling artificial and because they're dramatic. There are 2 historical flashbacks in my novel - one to WW1 and one to the 17th century.

Definitely how my MC develops from the beginning of the story to the end. It's great to know that she's an actual human being, and that she's grown after the obstacles I threw at her.

With the one I'm finishing up now, AFTERLIFE, it's a tie between the reveal of Mrs. Bethany's backstory and the grand finale.

With THE STORY OF ELISABETH ROSE, I like how the different POV's of Elisabeth and Lola come together. Also, I'm very glad I stayed under the 100,000 word count mark--something I've never been able to do.

The setting. Every time I get a new SNI, I want to put it in the same place, which I'm pretty sure won't work! :)

Yes!
It's the insane plot twist that I honestly wasn't thinking about until the appropriate time came.
Also, I love the bond between my MC and her sister, and my other MC and his cousin. Family bonds are so fun and sweet to write.

Yes, yes, yes.

The way Cass changes is my favorite part of it all. That and the ending. If there's anything I would refuse to change, it's the ending. Or rather, the concept of the ending. :D

A few favourite things:
Roger tells Peter to get over himself. Because nobody wants to listen to the MC gripe about his life. I reread a few chapters, realised it wasn't too bad yet but would turn sour given another rant or two, and had his best friend tell him to shut the f up. Lovely.
Wonderfully sarcastic people, chronically messy leaders, the Unpronounceable Polish Name, etc.

Probably my favourite thing about my novel is how much the characters are developing and how easy it is to write about their interactions with each other, especially between my main four. Their jokes are relaxed and they genuinely care for each other's well being. That makes me so happy, since I was concerned about my characters personalities clashing (which they do, but only when they should) and some of them being boring. I'm still writing the first draft, though, and have once edited a few early chapters for show. Things can change, hopefully for the better.

My favorite aspect of my novel has got to be the idea with its plot twists. That's what keeps me going right now, as I have yet to warm up to my characters.

I'm kind of boring in that my favourite aspect of my WIPs is always my main characters and the dynamic between them. Always. I don't start writing until the central relationship is clear and vivid in my head, because for me it's the thing everything else springs from.

And also I love the magic. :)

My MC- Leila. Gosh, I love her.

Your MC and I share a name.

*is happy*

Is your MC's name pronounced Lay-la or Lee-la? (I'm the second one, although almost everyone else I've ever come across with the name is the first one.)

My favorite aspect of Love Square is the complexity of the plot and all the drama that arises from the "love square" and the love triangles within that square. Who knew I could come up with all this drama? I love it!

I love the mystery that lies at the heart of my story. It dictates everything that happens and it's growing all the time.

I love humor in the form of sarcasm and arrogance. I find it intriguing. I love love-hate relationships, and there are a lot in my novels. For example, you hate to love him--you love to hate him. So fun!

I like the new climax. I like it that they don't hold back and the conflict feels real. I love my MCs, and I love seeing them fall apart, knowing that in the end it will change them for the better.

My favorite part of Explorer X - Alpha is the characters. All of them reminded me of some kid I knew when I was younger. They banter, they fight, they laugh, the play.
