Can you make money e-publishing on Amazon?

Hi all

I am writing a ebook on using Google Adwords to promote a small business. I am going to be creating a blog and selling a video course based on the ebook there. My question is can I make any money selling the ebook itself on Amazon? I can't find any data that would help me see what kind of sales Amazon would generate.

Why? Doesn't everybody have a right to make a living as long as they are putting out good an useful information? All I am asking is if anyone here has actually made a living publishing an ebook on Amazon. I don't intend on using clickbank or any other overnight scheme engine. I own a small business and have used everything that's in my book to help myself and my business. I just thought since it worked for me it could work for someone else who needed to market a small local business without spending a fortune.

By the way for all of you who are actually paying attention here is something that might help you drive traffic to your website or blog.
The term "Online Novel" comes up 22,000 time per month on Google search with a cost per click of .08 cents. The term "Online Novels" comes up 60,000 time locally and over 110,000 times globally with a cost per click of .09 cents. If you used pay per click and seo to your advantage and optimized for variations of those keywords you would bring traffic to your website or blog without spending a ton of money.
Here are some examples you can use right now.
Online romance novel(s)
Online fantasy novel(s)
Read a novel online
Purchase an online novel

All of these search terms are long tailed and therefore highly targeted to their audience and very cheap with little competition. Just place your genre into the term online novel and do the search yourself. If your really want to get techie try searching for your term in quotes like "online mystery novel" and see how many websites are competing in your genre.

Sorry Ken my fingers are sometimes too big for my keyboard. You are exactly right these are going for 8 and 9 cents per click with some of them going down to 5 cents. The best strategy to use with long tailed keywords is to research your market for a many of these as you can. Then set up your adwords groups with as few related keywords in each group as you can. Then sent each click to a corresponding landing page that has been optimized to that key group. Try to no more than 5 keyword phrases in each group and try if you can to get your keyword phrase in the ads headline as well as the title tag, keyword mete tag, and description for each page. You will be adding a lot of content to your site this way and doing it almost effortlessly.

So I thought it would be helpful to suggest that you look at that kind of vendor because that is where your potential customers will probably be shopping. If you want to make money off ebooks I suggest that your first step should be dialling down the sensitivity a notch. One problem you might face at Amazon is the the pricing model is different and your product might end up looking relatively expensive. But if you want to try it, sure--why not?

My apologies. I thought you were chiding me instead of trying to help. My only thought was that since my book would go out in front of so many people it might be a good way to go. I also looked at how many adwords books where being sold for the kindle and the competition seemed fairly light. I am going to working on a video guide sometime after the first of the year so maybe I can publish a scaled down version of the ebook just for Amazon to lend creditability to my larger projects.
